No, his response was to try and get it over with as soon as possible. Because if it was dragged out it would hurt. Like getting repairs. They only hurt if they were major, or if they were put off for a long time.

He's fine with that. He'll just exit the jagged looking rift, and look around for something or someone to tell him where to put the few cubes he managed to grab.

Who taught my muse how to fight?

He learned staff-fighting from some of the older Decepticon warriors who regarded it as a combination of an art form and a spiritual exercise. Think mechs with grim, serious Cyclonus type attitudes.  Knock Out pestered them and feigned an interest in the spiritual side of things until they taught him the basics.

As soon as he was somewhat proficient, he switched out his plain metal staff for a shock-staff and completely enraged his tutors by developing the flashiest techniques possible and basically showboating every chance he got in the casual after-hours battles between younger ‘Cons.

This was Knock Out’s plan all along.  To look good so he could pick up casual romantic partners more easily.

He would have been surprised to know he would one day use the staff on the battlefield.
