Learning Storyboard Pro finally. Here’s a little class assignment I did recently. Our instructor gave us the audio which we could cut up as we wished, and then pulled a random word to incorporate. Mine was “Viking”. I couldn’t come up with a Nordic idea to fit the dialog, so I went with a Minnesota Viking idea. Main objective was to learn the software tools.

Umm...I don't wish to bother you but I'm an aspiring artist and I'm about to finally go to college for animation. Do you have any advice on how to find jobs for artists put there?
Hi! Sorry, I just read your message. My advice if you’re in college is to seek out a summer internship at one of the studios-ideally the one(s) you want to work for. Each studio has internships and strong interests in finding new talents. They probably each have Tumblrs or FB pages to follow so you know when these internships are being offered.
At your school, make sure to find whomever helps students find those internships. That person may have contacts with studio people, and your best bet is to make those personal connections as early as you can and make yourself, your work and interests known. People want to encourage you. The next part is doing your best to be competitive among other artists your competing with. So, while you’re in school enjoy that time and do your best. All that work will pay off. As far as applying, these days the studios have online portals for jobs. You can also contact the Animation Union in LA to find job postings. Though, that may only be available for active union members. Which school are you attending?

Once in while I like to animate my doodles. I know what’s happening in my head, but wonder what you hear in yours. -Waveybrain
Here’s an example of ‘from board to final’ from the recently aired Wallykazam!, “Rock n’ Troll” episode. I had fun working on this one. In CGI, there are times I’m disappointed with the interpretation of a pose, then other times when they plus it. This particular shot, I don’t know why the gave him the angry eyes. I was going for more of a playful take. Overall, the essence was there. Can’t be precious about your contributions in animation because it’s one of the most collaborative art forms I know. -Waveybrain.
Feeling a little pissy today. They did a “Spitting Tree” episode and now my kid spits all the time. -Waveybrain
My wife put together a Super Hero inspired art show this weekend. Here’s my contribution. -Waveybrain
