unceremoniously swoops out of nowhere to scoop them up. i can show you the world-
️️️ ️️️ ️️️ ️️ ️️️ ️️️ ️️️ ️️ALTHOUGH THE TRAVELLER CAN'T SAY THAT she dislikes flight, there is most certainly a difference between willingly taking flight & being SCOOPED off the ground to soar into the skies. the yelp that comes from her is uncharacteristic, the sight of her smaller companion reaching out being almost DAUNTING as she holds on with a tight grip, arms wound around hawks even with no intention to do so.
️ ️️️ ️️️ ️️️ ️️️ ️️️ ️️" w-whuh ? " she doesn't flail, but she most certainly doesn't make his soaring easy when she chooses to SQUIRM. " put me down !! "

"Hello, fellow Hawk based hero. You wouldn't mind taking me across town for some major heroing, would you?"
COMMS REQUESTED WITH : HAWKS / @waxflight
the rain's been coming down in sheets since the early morning - but hotaru's safe in their living room, the tv droning in the background as still-human fingertips wind their way through hawks' hair. frankly, the hero doesn't even remember what's playing on the tv - but it's just background noise , really - something to accompany the snacks on their coffee table & the warm light of their lamp. despite the rain battering the large loft windows, they're more focused on the rather warm & toasty bird in their arms. speaking of ---
"you still awake down there, pretty bird?" they murmur - a small yawn escaping them, the generator in their chest momentarily flaring before hotaru settled back down, rubbing their eyes with their metal hand. "think i might've conked out there for a second. sorry about that, hawky --- uh, what are we watchin', anyways? "
feathers were everywhere, zooming towards hawks as they rushed to fill out his wings and slow his descent. ( he might be one of the fastest heroes out there, but they'd need to be faster than that to slow his fall. ) yet right now, his focus wasn't on his own safety but rather grasping hotaru's hand and making sure that their crash wouldn't be nearly as gnarly.
"i got you-!" brave words from an avian with wings barely able to hold his own weight but the smile they shot them betrayed none of those nerves. if he couldn't make someone else feel better in dire situations, what kind of pro was he?
YOU'D THINK THAT WITH ALL THE BRAINS THEY ALLEGEDLY POSSES, hotaru's escape from the braytech griffith park campus would be more... eloquent. instead, it turned into a frenzied, slap-dash attempt to keep all of the security efforts on them: pulling attention away from the others & buying time for escape, running up flights & flights & flights of stairs & taking their new powers out for a spin. they didn't even think twice about smashing their way through a window to escape & praying some hero nearby could hear their screams, or the light of the sun could charge them enough to get out of this mess. ( wishful thinking at best, until they spy one of those familiar red feathers whizzing by. )
okay, maybe they took a wild guess that hawks was nearby. a wild guess that's definitely saving their ass right now - emerging from the depths of hell as a nightmarish result of cruel, weird science & diving headfirst into the sunlight sinking below the hollywood sign.
i got you, he says - & they grasp his hand for dear life, tears of relief finally streaming from bright, cyan eyes & inverted from their rapid descent. " i know! " they yell back , " & man, are you a sight for sore eyes ---"
& for a second, they allow themself to believe that smile of his. just for a second, before shooting back their own, fanged grin: "ya sure you don't want some help, though? i mean - by my calculations, we're in for a nasty landing ! "
