Watched more Cramp Twins the other night and I want to talk about Dance Pants, specifically Wayne's piercings.
When the heck did Wayne get these piercings? At 1st I thought this episode aired after Tattoo Boy (which I'll talk about later), which might've made sense since Dave was also giving his friends piercings. But since, according to the Cramp Twins episodes list on Wikipedia, Dance Pants came out 2 episodes prior to Tattoo Boy, Wayne couldn't have gotten his nose and lip pierced during that time. So where, when and who did Wayne get his piercings? Also, why is there no indication that he got them? Like when Mel got hers, it was clearly fresh and still red, it even made her talk funny.
Chances are that Wayne did the piercings himself sometime prior to this episode. Wayne has shown that there's basically nothing he can't/won't do when he wants something/or puts his mind to it. So him piercing his own nose and lip is right up his alley! He probably did it long enough ago that he doesn't need anything in the holes to keep them open, or he has something that is so small that his family wouldn't even notice it.
The reason I think Wayne did them long ago is because there's no swelling after he came out of the bathroom at the mall or at the school. Now, there's a chance that Wayne is also a fast healer, since he's gotten injured before and shown basically no marks. But the more likely scenario is that his piercings are old.
It's not too crazy that nobody realized that this amazing dancer was Wayne, at least not initially. I'm not even sure Miss Hissy actually realized it, she might've just saw an opportunity for the teachers goal.
Not only was Wayne very vocal about his hatred and avoidance of dancing, so no one outside of his parents have actually seen him dance, the environment also helped. There was loud music and a darkened gym with flashing lights. So even though Wayne has a very distinct skin color and voice, the lights would've distorted his already disguised appearance, and Wendy's the only one who spoke to him, the music probably distorted his voice too. Lucien realizing that this superior dancer was Wayne is probably less of him noticing any key distinguishing parts and more of him not only wanting to dance and prove everyone wrong, but his parents also saying that Wayne is the dancer of the family. So he probably put two and two together. There was a large amount of candy on the line! He knows Wayne well enough to know what he wants.
I loved that Wayne kept his star and turned it into jewelry. Given his punk rock fashion choice for disguise, the star looks kind of out of place
The twins differing dancing styles and abilities to dance overall also highlights how they're polar opposites. Lucien genuinely can't dance to save his life and everyone else seemed to be aware of it but him, while Wayne is a natural born dancer yet no one but himself and their parents know. When exactly did Wayne stop dancing? His parents said he was always dancing as a baby, so when did he stop, or at least stop dancing in view of others? Lucien apparently has never even seen Wayne dance, so when was he doing it?
