I love cripy videos from SM.
Kind of repeats Dream's previous comeback. Young men in a facility, being recorded and observed. Are we back to NCT lore?
Yuta's Buttefly and Bad euphoria.

lucas's documentary has a very bad influence in China.most people think he dragged his members.and in that video,he confessed he did something wrong indeed.that wrong is unforgiven in China.in my mind, everyone has opportunities to become a new better man,but his excuses about the wrong seems ridiculous.obviously, there are many ways to deal with it.I agree with your thoughts about his psychological in fact, but it can't be the reason.I don't care about what he wants to do in the future, whatever be a actor or solo idol, but I don't understand why he still referred the members.did he know that could only hurt them?Maybe my thought is childish,I'm too confused and even angry.
Here is a question: who knows Lucas better - you, Chinese fans or WayV members?
Here is another question: if Lucas is so bad, why do WayV members continue to be friends with him despite the blow to the group and postponed activities his scandal brought? Why did Lucas go to Ten's first concert to support him?
Here is a third question: this documentary is scripted, there were long discussions over how to shoot it and in what way to tell the story, do you think pros and cons of mentioning WayV weren't taken into consideration? By the company whose goal is to profit from idols, after investing in WayV so much?
WayV members support Lucas. Maybe consider their real feelings and not your idea about what is wrong and right for them.
Harsh truth. But you care not for WayV, but for yourself. Your own feelings.
You are you, and you experience what you experience, give it time and it will pass, you'll heal. While waiting, please don't lash out on others in an attempt to lessen your pain or fight the confusion. Because that's what you are doing.
WayV's new album is in two weeks. A really nice album cover.
NCT Universe 2nd ep
Self-made variety shows like "NCT Universe" have an advantage of the participants being more relaxed and the producers using the moments between the takes. These more genuine moments allow an idol to show a compelling side, and for the viewers to connect with/like him quicker. A good example was Shohei and Xiaojun' exchange in the 2nd ep (when Hendery was posing for photographs). How Xiaojun teased Shohei that he never saw him that happy and smiling so much. In a few seconds we saw the friendship between fellow ex-trainees and how genuinely excited and relieved Shohei is about his soon-to-be-debut.
Shotaro is so good with Korean. Not only he sounds fluent (the speed), he uses Korean idioms (there was something about "lip-service"). He is very natural in taking the lead as an MC, it's not that he likes to talk, he just likes to connect with people, interact.
That KunTen moment after the question about the hardships of living together...
SM system works, the issue isnt the earnings or why one unit is being pushed or the other isn't. Wayv was getting to a level and Lucas issue came out of the woodwork.now sm is pushing wayv in a different market.
Wayv has been pushed on South East Asia and they have a lot of fans there so I can see more English based songs and Chinese+English songs for the huge Chinese population in sea.
Dreamies are being pushed coz SM wants to see their worth, they want to see if the company should offer the contract to all or the ones that are worth the effort. They're also young so it would be a testing period for the boys to prove their worth in the label. SM is a business not a charity.
127 is their warning cow, they're not touching it co they know that the group has most number of group fans and not solo Stan's. I got in for 2dong and now I'm even invested in taeil who I thought was hardest to get into.
Shinee had this attitude in 2015, even though they came out with the biggest hits of that year. The company was sure they will have the band wanting to renew and I feel that the main boys all are sure abt staying back .
I think SM wants to also push out the NCT 2022/2023 so they're trying to fit everything in these few last weeks
Sm also doesn't want to invest in an incomplete band, FX sank coz most went doing their own stuff once Victoria went to China.
I want to see if we will even have dream in a few years
---------------
Well, technically, 127 still has 12-25 December for a comeback. "Universe (Let's play ball)" was released December 10th and promoted till NY.
NCT2023. The new unit and NCT warming up period has started. Shotaro and Yuta's and Shotaro and Sungchan's shows in Japan. The NCT Universe show that has started a couple of days ago, which is going to show the new rookies. SM registered WayV's photobook album version, so their comeback is near as well.
NCT system is a new system, there are ought to be mistakes and failures along the way, it is inevitable. However, this system allows to adapt to three new factors: solo-stan culture, newfound longevity of groups and international presence.
Solo stans like me won't care with which unit the bias performs, at the same time different units allow for different genres and different voice combinations. There wouldn't be Boss Doyoung without U, 127 has Taeil as the vocal who is given all the pivotal notes. WayV doesn't have strong vocalists, but Xiaojun can sing a ballad with Taeil (and Renjun). TaeMarkYY combo in "New Axis"? Lit. Cute Mark? Only in Dream now. Johnny, a lead in everything, getting the real central spot in "Working"?
Cross-pollination works wonders. WayV has its own lightstick, but fans come with neobongs to watch them in SEA. Many SuperM fans became NCTzens. I don't follow Dream content daily, I'm not invested in any of dreamies, but I buy their albums if I like the songs in them. It was Doyoung who highlighted Xiaojun for me (Dejun's crush on him, heh) and MAW and Resonance that really showed me his talents (I had the least interest in Xiaojun soon after the debut of WayV).
Neos belonging to a brand not only allows for the name to stay trending while a unit is on hiatus, it's a safenet against scandals and the absence during enlistment. WayV survived Lucas' scandal. But if it didn't, the neos could have been moved easily to new units or continued to be promoted as solo and with U. Sungchan and Shotaro got instant international following and big enough brand deals. Because of Shotaro's interaction with other neos even kfans accepted him quickly despite not liking Japanese idols and the antis creating a whole eviction campaign before his debut.
Units can divide the markets and advertise at different parts of the world. 127 can't stay in Indonesia for long, but WayV can spend a few days. 127 can't fly to Chili on a k-con, but Dream can.
Ten promotes in Thailand on TV, gets new fans, they discover TaeTen's single, get interested in Tae, watch Boss/Kick It and Jopping, and start to follow (or at least listen to) 3 groups.
It wasn't easy for 127 neos in comparison to SungTaro who got their first wins quickly. But it was even worse for Suju who didn't even have proper dorms or enough food or TVXQ with their long slave contracts. Every artist gets his own share of obstacles and troubles. BlackPink is a group on its own, no units, no nothing, and they release an album every two years with little group promotion inbetween, lol. The group debuted same year as 127 and has 5 albums to its name. While 127 has 16(+1 concert album)?
By the way, if you are not aware of its existance, I really recommend
Up Next Session: NCT 127 album.

Super M: villains of SMCU
Super M being compared to Avengers is deceptive. It’s a group of villains in SMCU.
Taemin is the ultimate evil of SMCU. We don’t know his plans, but I suspect he wants to preserve chaos or find the Tree of life.
Super M members were introduced back in 2019 through a series of teasers. These teasers tell a story of Taemin gathering his group of helpers.
- Baekhyun, Kai. I think these are copies (X-Exo, created by Red Force). Baek was in a labaratory and later confined in a cell. Kai looked lost, like he was directed by someone to the place with falling cars (Taemin’s place).
- Ten. Ten is fully on Taemin’s side, but he is under influence/brainwashed. When his other self drags him into the mirror, Ten dances like a villain. His eyes are blue in later promotional material. In Asia, where everyone has brown eyes, blue is evil. In the teaser you see a painting with flowers. In NCT lore Ten is associated with plants. His box is filled with them in The 7th sense. His real self is still dreaming, unaware that the picture was destroyed.
- Mark. Mark comes into a white room with white tiles. His box in t7s also had white tiles. Mark looks carefree, relaxed. It’s his own space, representation of the inner world/mind. Out of the box comes Dark Mark (Jungian shadow). The Light Mark and Dark Mark change places, Dark Mark stays in the room and raps, Light Mark is lost in subconcious (the ladder, the Limitlessness of dreams is represented with a ladder in NCT dreamverse). Mark is willingly with Taemin, his dark self/dark desires/ambition took over. He works on his own accord.
- Taeyong. In NCT watching something on TV/screen means to watch someone else’s dream. Copies mean multiple versions in multiple dreams. Taeyong with blue eyes (evil) points a gun at another Taeyong with dark eyes, but doesn’t kill him. Taeyong is only partially under Taemin’s influence, or pretends he is. Only one of his eyes is blue later in promotional stuff.
Lucas. He has the fallen angel imagery in WayV. In NCT lore he can connect to someone else’s dream he wants and enter it (that’s how he appeared in Dream in a Dream and Boss). The elevator in NCTverse symbolyzes going between dream levels (reality->dream->dream in a dream). Lucas is at work, he enters a dream, and we see multiple reflections of him (his self in multiple dreams). Red colour means Dream. Lucas looks both lost and dazed. I’m not sure, but I think he got corrupted by the limitlessness of Dream (Matrix), greedy for it. “I’m the other one, chillin’ with them other ones”. He wants to be with the “cool guys”. He is willingly with Taemin, but probably not very committed. Alternatively, he also pretends to be on Taemin’s side, he is a double agent (the suit in the teaser and what we know from unreleased “Jalapeno”).
Nouratan pointed out that Key has a double in his new teaser. There is a blue-eyed Key, and a brown-eyed Key. His teaser pictures also alternate between two eye colours. Key is from Shinee. Considering Taemin is there, he should have brainwashed other members by now. It looks like Key is like Taeyong and only pretends to be under influence. Or he in the middle of waking up from it.
Irene in “Queendom”, who is believed to be the leader of the coven, also had different eyes.
Any thoughts about A cup of coffee 3? I dont really get the series or what they are trying to do with it… the first two were alright, I actually enjoyed Doyoungs one cos he and Ten had a funny convo and other parts were good. I’ve said this before a long time ago on your blog but I dislike Johnny’s eng humour. He seems like he is grasping at straws and trying way too hard. Jaehyun with his minimal lines and Mark’s natural awkwardness makes for better script than whatever Johnny had going on. His korean humour is better, still not my taste but I don’t get why fans in the comments praise his humour so much. I am excited for the concept of NCT show because it promises fans of continual and constant content of all the members so that they aren’t seen as ‘neglected’ or whatever fans think a few months of break means. I wonder if Doyoung or Jae anchor can be a thing or will it always be Jeno and Sungchan.
- I love that they use the eerie NCT sound during the intro.
- A cup of coffee, Johnny and Markie are shows to please the international audience. The inclusion of members who are not too good in English allows for misunderstandings and funny broken English. NCT has many "make it funny on the go, improvise" programmes for YT. How funny something is depends on your own sense of humour. For example, fans praise Woo's humour and Yuta's humour, while I seldom find them funny. I prefer 2Dong's wit.
- The first episode was just a few members having a lunch, nothing too different from a usual bts vlive of that time. It gained popularity thanks to Ten, so it got continuation. The second episode was designed for Thai fans (everyone were dressed up in Thai school clothes, Ten taught about traditions).
- The name is "The NCT Show in the NCT Universe". NCT Universe was introduced with NCT2021. All neos are now connected. A cup of coffee ep3 unites units' concepts: Dream Cafe+NCIT.
- Neos get personal "lore" based on their preferences. I've noticed that idols get their colours and animals/fruits right at debut. Fans like it. That's why some things are repeated again and again. Johnny loves coffee, Xiaojun loves mint chocolate flavour, Taeyong likes sweet potatoes, Doyoung is a bunny, etc.
- There might be some hints about Dream's upcoming album.
- I think a lot of Korean idol content is just "look at pretty idols". 127 had a paid show (Castle #127), 2 hours and just stretched out two games. It was very boring. All official scripted promotional lives are super boring. Therefore the quality/density of humour is not that important. We are just lucky many neos are good at being weirdos.
- A cup of coffee was labeled as "sitcom" (hence the background laugh, the characteristic scene transition music), it's a parody. Sitcoms are stupid, it's the genre.
- The members evidently improvised (we know neos did during NCIT for sure), it's hard to be funny trying to be funny. Johnny isn't good at it, I agree. He is funny when he makes fun of someone, as a natural follow up, a continuation of a topic. At least Johnny tried. Jaehyun was just chilling, heh.
- The mysterious Sijeni is a continuation of the previous shows. NCIT had her (they were anticipating her visit), Vampires had her (wrote love letters).
- Oh, Taeyong wore Doyoung's ring.
- They actually came up with a decent subplot for Mark's dating life troubles. So props for that. And Jisung was funny with his beans, Xiaojun with his concern about the customers who drank the coffee.
- OK. To sum it up. I really liked the colours and the filter, it helped to sit through the video. As content, it's a bit on the boring side for me, but I understand that many watch such things doing something else, for the company. It's basically "y/n meet neos in a cafe", the point is companionship, the people, bringing all units together, making all neos interact. I think it was a mistake to use the "A cup of coffee" name because it's a misnomer. That show was about talking in English, the foreign swaggers and their guests, not about drinking coffee.
- I guess the anchors will change to bring variety.
