Weeping Brentwood Character Introductions: Part II
Gretchen is a sophomore flute major at Brentwood College. She is Japanese-American, openly queer (a trans lesbian), and has inattentive-type adhd. Gretchen skirts the line between sweet and spicy, serene and sarcastic. She’s quick-witted but not unkind. She does, however, believe that you get the respect you give. This shapes the way she interacts with other characters; her behavior changes greatly depending on who she’s engaging with.
Jackson, for example, sees a very hidden but nasty side of Gretchen. Rochelle sees her sweet, fun side. Sage is a bit of an anomaly. Even Gretchen doesn’t know how to behavior around her half the time. Sage irks her and frequently leaves her confused, mystified, on edge, and frustrated in more ways than one.
Gretchen’s biggest contribution to the missions is that she appears very sweet and well-behaved on the surface. She can get away with a lot of shit that the others can’t, and she enjoys sneaking around.
Sage is a transfer sophomore guitar major. She is gay as shit. In the hierarchy of most obnoxious music majors, Sage takes great pride in being #3 (2 after Hilda bites the dusty). She is incredibly intelligent but lazy, preferring to use her smarts for roasting her classmates. She is overwhelmingly sarcastic, dramatic, and has a no-fucks-given attitude.
Her interactions with other characters are pretty consistent: she makes everyone groan with an exasperated “shut up, Sage”. Despite being considered insufferable, the one thing all music majors appreciate about Sage is how she’s turned her venomous gaze to Jackson. She enjoys tearing him apart as often as possible. The only other person she’s fixated on is Gretchen.
She’s undoubtedly attracted to Gretchen and only slightly resistant to the idea, but Gretchen makes her just a little bit softer. She’s the only person Sage feels comfortable being vulnerable around, on occasion.
Sage’s biggest contribution is...well, her entire glowing personality. She makes for an excellent distraction. Beyond that, she’s incredibly intelligent and resourceful when she wants to be.
