so cold.

jae huddles down into his giant coat as he finally comes to the end of the campus grounds. he’s spent the last few hours hidden behind piles of paperwork and entertaining students panicking about their finals and last projects. it’s nearing 1 am, and the streets of jeju are barren and the wind is freezing. it cuts through his jacket and causes him to shiver and he tries his best to hide under the oversized scarf wrapped around his neck. winter in jeju is brutal.
he’s hungry and freezing and the roads are pretty much empty. he’s thought about heading to a bar, knows he’ll have an easier time finding someone to feed on. but it all seems like too much work at this point. he knows there are blood bags in the “kitchen” at the main house, something the clan keeps on stock at all points.
and so he turns on his heel and begins to head that way, cursing how far away the university campus is from the main house. he walks past brightly filled restaurants packed to the brim with tourists and a club pumping out loud music. his stomach growls loudly and he wrinkles his nose against the smell of alcohol and sweating humans on top of each other.
cutting down an alleyway, a familiar shortcut to the main house, he quickly stops in his tracks taking in the scene before him. a man, heady with the scent of alochol and lust, looms over what appears to be a younger girl pinning her close to a brick wall. jae hesitates at first, weighing his options, wondering if he should involve himself in the affairs of humans but something wins out inside of him, urging him to interfere. he takes a few steps forward, “hey! what are you doing? get away from her!” his voice low but loud echoes off of the buildings surrounding the alley.
