I dont believe theres any conspiracy and favoritism in mclaren i think some people are doing a mediocre job and at the end of the day thats it. I cant deny lando is doing a good job to recover from a 34pt deficit to now being 24 ahead and i cant deny oscar has been lacksluster and even though there is potential and i know he can be better he also needs to have something to show for it. He did that in the first half of the season and he needs to do it again now and he knows that but also some things are not entirely up to him. They need better strategy for him. Hes doing what he can to find the pace and adapt to how the car works in diff conditions and i dont wanna keep repeating over and over that hes in his 3rd year cuz at some point it starts feeling like an excuse but in this aspect experience matters and lando has double of that on him.
honestly for me this is the tough part because i believ4 in lando, i've always and always will but mcl incompetence and other variables outside of his control impacting his results hit so hard especially considering how close he is
just trying to keep myself sane by zooming out and looking at the big picture, and honestly have you to thank for that <3
tbh i know this will be an unpopular take, but in my opinion, mclaren didn't make lando mess up his final lap, he did that himself. i think their run plan made sense. he set an absolutely incredible banker lap, so they clearly sent him out at the right time for him to do that, and then they gave him the opportunity to improve on that time at the end of q3, sending him out light on fuel (like you have to be to have the edge), but he was the one who made a mistake and bailed out of the lap, which was too bad, but not anyone else's fault.
but even if he fumbled the second attempt, he still didn't tumble further down the order because of it because of his beautiful first lap, which we can take away as a positive. mclaren does ofc have plenty of opportunity to mess him up tomorrow, and i hope they do their job, very much hope they're on top of strategy and pit stops, but i also hope our boy shows up with his head in the right place to get it done. he's just going to have to avoid chaos on track and keep it clean, and he's the one with the hands on the wheel.
i think to really respect a driver's achievements and give them credit for their successes when it's due, you have to also acknowledge that their mistakes are their own fault too, which doesn't feel as nice, but to me is an essential part of being a fan. there are plenty of shoulda coulda wouldas for the session, but it is what it is. i really believe he can do this, like he's proved he can do this, and he's got a fast car and plenty of motivation, but he's got to be his best self on track. i hope to see it when the lights go out tomorrow!!! it's all to play for 🧡
