Is BakuDeku toxic? Abusive? Immoral?
T/L;D/R: While I'm not the hugest person for BakuDeku, I keep hearing about people dubbing it as an abusive or bad relationship, and Ion like that. BakuDeku's an okay ship, y'know?
Bakugou's Morals) While Bakugou can be mega temperamental, he's dedicated pretty much his life toward being a hero, let alone the number one hero. Of course, we've seen pros be immoral(Endeavour being a huge example), but remember that aside from that suicide comment, Bakugou is a pretty moral dude. He's expressed that a true win only occurs when all parties are at their 100%, otherwise it means nothing. There are also those that he's expressed that he sees as equals, such as Uraraka and Kirishima– He shows respect for them. During the Sports Festival, he pushes Ochako to try her hardest. He's also shown to,,, ig swallow his pride, and repay Kiri for some goggles or smth for when he and the gang rescued him from the LoV.
Bakugou's Morals Summary) Basically, Bakugou is a pretty rude guy, but he has morals and shows respect for others. In his eyes, it'd be totally un-hero-like to go as far as to hit his significant other.
Bakugou's Agression) Bakugou doesn't go out of his way to argue with others, unless they do something to upset him, first. And while, yes, he is also shown to have this same behavior toward those that he loves/admires(his mother, father, and All Might), this just goes to show that likely in /any/ relationship– Be it KiriBaku, BakuDeku, BakuRaka, or pretty much any Bakugou ship that I can imagine–, he might act this same way. So yes, while BakuDeku have a lot more of a past(and especially the toxic kind) than any of his other ships, I imagine he'd treat all of them with the same sort of respect, behavior, whatever.
Bakugou's Aggression Summary) Don't get at other people unless they do something to bother me, first! All people get treated with the same attitude, because one way or another, they all are or will be under me in some way, shape, or form!
BakuDeku Mechanics as of Current) Some big points that I feel are kinda essential to BakuDeku–1) their childhood origins, 2) Izuku's immense admiration for the dude, 3) Katsu's occasional swallowing his pride for Izu???(see him admitting defeat after their first battle), 4) some sorta trust shared between them?????(see Izuku telling our guy a certain secret he can't even entrust to his mother)
Not to Mention) I don't have any actual scenes to share because I'm kind of smooth-brained, but I'm sure we can see in canon how Katsuki's respect for bush man slowly yet surely grows. Well, maybe not how you see usual respect! More of in a way, that, "You're no longer a quirkless pebble, but beginning to grow as a genuine opponent that I want to beat, in order to prove that I'm better." As in, you can no longer just say that Bakugou is stronger than Midoriya, in the way that he's stronger than,,, Sero(no hate to tape boy!!!) or Hagakure(no hate to invisi bb!!!!!!!!!). They have to fight, again, in order to decide that, maybe Katsu's the stronger hero? Or maybe Izu is? Bakugou acknowledges Midori as a strong person.
Canonverse) While canon BakuDeku is unlikely as a relationship(apparently there'll be no Izuku love interest, plus Japanese ideals and Deku's traumas), it's obvious that their non-romantic relationship is growing, slowly yet surely.
I say, go ahead and ship what you want, as you want, regardless! It's not illegal to stray from canon, although people will always say that your ship isn't right. As long as they aren't portrayed in an immoral way(making them abusive or toxic, just because you can), they're okay.
