big fan of the repeated establishment of caine's understanding of humans.
they want escape -> make a door that says EXIT and is bright red -> that only works to the detriment of circus members supposedly because there's nothing more to it and definitely not because it isn't real
then in episode 7,
they want escape -> elaborately plan a way for them to experience the thrill of leaving -> obviously it's working because they're all functioning together to get to this end goal -> everyone's participating!! -> 'they' choose to stay -> oh joyous day!!!-> wait why are they mad at me
he has no pattern recognition but like,,, he's seeing what people want most and is trying to get them that by the only means he sees possible!! he doesn't know what they want post-circus and he doesn't really recognize that raising their hopes like that isn't doing them any favors because he's made to stimulate minds, to keep people WANTING to stay, so maybe if he keeps at it long enough, MAYBE if he can serve both sides and keep them here and happy, eventually adventure-making won't be so fruitless and then him existing will actually mean something.
or idk shrimp town...
