    Klaus paused midway through where he was rummaging in one of the drawers, sensing a presence behind him (old training died hard, even when he stifled it under as many chemicals as he could to muffle it), before he resumed his actions.  It wasn’t like he had to be afraid of anyone in this house anymore.  “Do me a favor,” he remarked casually, groping further before he perked up - there it was, he supposed Pogo and Grace must never have found it after so long - and plucked out a carton of cigarettes, “and keep this between us, yeah?”

“What’s worrying is that those tide pods were mostly eaten by adults,” Jess pointed out with raised brows. It was deeply disturbing how stupid humans were. It made her feel better about herself. She may make stupid decisions, but at least she didn’t go around eating tide pods. “You’re ok though. To hang out with,” she added as a clarification that wasn’t needed. “Even if I don’t understand some of your references.”

    “Vannnnyaaaaaaaaa!”  That cry would be just about the only warning his sister would get before Klaus was there, exuberant and smiling as he wrapped her up in his arms and twirled her about for a moment before setting her down again.  “You were so wonderful, oh my God, I still have shivers from that, ohhhhhh.”  He might have seemed a little high then, but in truth?  He was just happy.  It had been a good day - Diego had closed out a case he’d been working on for weeks, Vanya had just finished her violin performance to a standing ovation, and it was just.  A good day.  But then, it was usually a good day for them now that they were out on their own away from their father.

    “Oh!”  He then let her down and rummaged through his pockets, pulling out a careful little origami rose that he carefully threaded through her hair and tucked behind her ear, the paper surprisingly well put together given its original location.  “Diego said I wasn’t allowed to hold the flowers because I’d just throw them at you on stage, so I went with the next best thing.  Oh, and Ben helped.  So.  This is from him too.”
