VALKYRIE
Once Valkyrie was done on her end, she peered over Jessica’s shoulder. “Yes, just as I suspected. Much more legible.” The warrior would insist that she didn’t need the pen when she wielded a sword. She would argue for hours those that insisted a writing utensil was mightier than her blade and that was because she was more a woman of action than words alone. “Hmm yes, they do seem quite daft. We’ll make sure they don’t cause any more trouble.” Her eyes scanned the buildings, looking for a good vantage point. “Up there!” Valkyrie moved to a good launch point and waited for her companion to catch up. She wasn’t sure how high the other could bound - for all she knew the hero could run up the brick- so she offered out a hand. “Ready?”
“Do I need to get you one of those notebooks kids use to learn calligraphy?” Jessica joked, really wondering if she was willing to anger the other woman just for a stupid joke. Most probably. Or maybe she’d actually appreciate it, which Jessica doubted. She looked down at Valkyrie’s hand and wondered if she was going to fly her up there. Could she even fly? Would she just jump? Jessica was intrigued. “Thank you, but I rather climb up. For now. I might ask for a ride later, though, just to try it,” she added with an easy smile. And then she got her hands up over her head and on the wall, her feet following. She probably looked ridiculous, but being able to stick to walls was actually really useful and had gotten her out of plenty of sticky —pun intended?— situations. “Meet you up there?”
CAROL
“so.. always, is what you’re saying?” getting on jess’ nerves is one of her many talents, carol is aware. but that’s just how their friendship works. they give as good as they get but when it comes down to it, they have each other’s back. —or at least they try to. carol knows she has her fair share of things she ought to make up for. “i’ll get you up there, if you really want to. he still owes me a favor anyway.” she’ll try not to take it too personal, if jess ends up changing her mind after all. not everyone is built for space travel; she knows she’d go insane if her powers didn’t allow her to leave the station whenever she felt like it. but she’s never been a fan of being confined to one place only. “did i mention the abs?,” carol quips, which really only serves to prove jess’ point but who cares? she may or may not be getting a little more excited about the prospect of the brunette coming along to space with her than she anticipated. not even jess’ attempt at turning the tables can take her down a notch. “she is,” carol repeats, looking the other woman dead in the eyes as she says it. it is and isn’t a confirmation; just enough to keep the upper hand. anything else might expose her for the selfish fraud she is. her smile a little more subdued, a little less cocky, she accepts the compliment returned in kind. “thanks.” after all, it’s difficult enough to get jess’ to stop fighting her on these sort of things and carol does possess a unique set of powers.
“eh. you’re ok sometimes,” she jokes with a smile. she’s not about to say that she loves when carol’s a prick and she doesn’t mind it one bit. carol knows. she’s sure. the same way she knows when she gets all down and hard on herself, carol still loves her. even if she wants to punch her nose in. “i’m not above using favors to get to space.” a shrug. she’s really not. “do you mean my abs? cause i got some of those myself, i don’t need yours for anything,” she states looking carol over. she knows her friend has way better abs than she does. the prick is ripped. jess is going to blame it on her alien powers and not feel bad about it. she clears her throat. then laughs. “well, thank you for that very serious statement about how i am also hot, captain.” she tries to not blush or react in any way, but she’s sure it’s not working. it’s not every day carol tells her she thinks she’s hot. jess herself thinks she’s ok, regular looking. maybe a little pretty. and that’s that. she has too much baggage for it to be relevant in any way. her beauty won’t get her anywhere with anyone. and yet. it makes her want to smile. it’s stupid.
SHURI
On their final lap, the princess made sure to put out all the stops; high speed, drifting, the works. Since they weren’t actually in Tokyo it really did feel like one of those VR rides at amusement parks. Of course her inventions made the experiences much more real. Eventually Shuri took them off the highway soon the car was parked safely in a garage- as if it had never left the lot in the first place.
“Oh, you and me both.” Shuri agreed before dismissing the hologram. The two women were soon back on their feet inside the lab they never actually left. “I get so consumed in my work, and my brother is always trying to drag me out. Nature can wait I’m making a breakthrough!” She beckoned for Jessica to follow her into another sector of the lab. The lighting operated on sensors, so when they entered the open space the area around gradually illuminated. The princess went to work on another console and soon the walls were opening up, displaying various auto parts.
“Have you ever seen Wreck-It Ralph, Ms. Drew?” Shuri keyed in some commands on the screen and in the center of the room a base model for a bike rose from the floor. “This is going to be just like the go-kart creation scene.” The scientist loved making pop culture references and it was nice trying them out on someone who didn’t live under a rock T’Challa. “Well of course, not nearly as messy. Let’s get started! I know you said you aren’t picky but if you could imagine your dream bike, what would it be like? Give me some qualities, some features.” The brainstorming was about to begin.
Jess made sure to be holding on for all of Shuri’s tricks. She was one to drive recklessly when on her bike, so she wasn’t exactly scared. She just preferred driving herself if possible. “Are you sure nature can wait? I hear we’re ruining the planet,” she pointed out. “And don’t you have friends? You’re a teenager, you must have someone to hang out with.” Or so tv and movies told her. She had had no one. Then again, she had been trapped in a giant bathtub for decades so. She was clearly not the rule.
“Is that the movie about the guy who is the bad guy of the videogame?” she wondered. “Because if so, no I haven’t. I did watch the commercials though. Does that count?” Jess was pretty sure it didn’t. Oh well. She was supposed to watch it with Carol and Kit, but something had come up and she’d missed it. “Badass, obviously. I want it to be able to take some hits and to be able to go through pretty much any terrain. With maybe a secret button that’ll give me an edge in speed if needed,” she added with a slight frown. She had seen what Shuri was able to do, but she didn’t really want to ask for too much.
me: *can barely keep up with one multimuse and this blog* also me, a stupid bitch: so should i turn this blog into a multi and add valkyrie, jane!thor, monica and maria (who i already have in a sideblog but i’d move her to the multi)????
btw if anyone plays marvel ultimate alliance you should tell me your whatever thingy so we can play together.
so you’re telling me they wrote and filmed a whole scene with everyone kneeling for tony and all natasha got was a ‘uh i guess it’s sad she’s dead’? when most of those people got along better with natasha? the ridiculousness that is the mcu has reached its peak i guess.
CAROL
YOU’RE SICK AND TIRED OF NOT KNOWING what’s going on with you, what anything is, who anyone is to you ( beyond what’s available in your shield files, you know who you know, but you don’t know how well you know them ). “ confused, ” you don’t know what else to say, “ scared. NOTHING MAKES SENSE. ” you do what she says, you look her in the eyes and you take a deep breath and suddenly the world isn’t so scary. it’s all just a little bit less hard and you’re thankful for it. until you really think about it. and it makes you wonder. ( doesn’t everything make you wonder these days? ) “ you, ” your voice isn’t shaking as much as it was mere moments ago, “ you’re the ONLY THING THAT HELPS. ”
it’s probably sad how jess can actually relate to carol’s feelings. then again, it’s not her that lost her memories. that doesn’t even know who she is. that can’t remember who she loved. who she is friends with and why. “then let me be here and help. whatever you need,” she promises. “anything. i mean it. i can tell you stories, ones that will probably be less objective than a file. you can ask anything you want,” she adds. she doesn’t know if that’ll help, but she’s not sure anything will. she doesn’t know how to proceed. last time this happened she didn’t know carol. she had just rescued her and their friendship had started then. now she has to deal with her best friend not knowing who she is. she’s as lost as carol is.
DINAH
“ Eh… i don’t fantasize over you, Jess ? ” Now that conversation was turning very oddly. Brows furrowed lightly, as the Canary was trying her best to find a pretty good answer. “ I mean, you’re fine, just… very fine, look at yourself. ” Hand gestured around & in front of the woman, & for a moment Dinah’s eyes couldn’t help but stare. What was she supposed to do anyway ? It was pretty confusing, especially when Jess didn’t seem to shrug into any clothes so far. “ It’s just… I never thought about you other than a friend so far, & I don’t know, I just fantasize over people I could see myself… have sex? ” All her sentences were hesitating because she clearly didn’t want to disappoint her friend. “ Do you fantasize over me though ? I could say the same then.” Arms closed against her chest with a cocky brow, “ I actually don’t like big boobs, if it can make you feel better, & I we all know that women past twenty have to wear bras for gravity reasons. Also tits that have too much space in between… are weird to me. ”
“Well, I don’t fantasize over you either,” she answered with a blink. “Even if you’re fine too,” she added. Dinah was more than fine. But she got what she meant. Jessica didn’t actually fantasize about anyone she didn’t want to date. And, honestly, she didn’t want to date very many people. Why subject anyone to dating her? That’d be a terrible decision. “I will say though, that when I first met you I thought you were very hot. And then we became friends so that’s that.” A shrug. she let out a belly laugh at Dina’s very specific description. “I think I can agree. On both. I like boobs I can hold in my hands,” she clarified. And then took a shirt and put it on. Because it was getting a little strange.
CAROL
“oh, admit it. you find me charming. and you think i have great abs.” carol teases, purposely going overboard with her allegations. there has to be some truth to it, otherwise jess wouldn’t put up with her. her options aren’t that limited. the part about her abs; that one’s solely for her own enjoyment of the face she knows jess’ll be making. it’s the little things in life. “is that how you want me to sell you coming along to fury? to keep me grounded? because i think it might work.” if jess wants to go looking for flaws, she won’t stand in her way. there’s a very selfish but not unsubstantial part of her, that’s eager to take any kind of attention the other woman is willing to give her. besides, if the verdict stands and jess still wants to keep her around, maybe she can start feeling a little less guilty. “i do not sound like that,” carol parrots back in the same exaggerated accent then squints her eyes in thought, “hmm… no, i think you’re more of a… jennifer connelly.” a better looking, more badass version of jennifer connely. but she keeps that part to herself. brows dipping briefly at the brunette’s reply, she shrugs. she can tell that jess doesn’t believe her but carol is not above repeating herself. “well, i do.” she keeps her tone sincere and just casual enough to hopefully fly under the radar.
“only when you’re not being a massive prick,” she points out with a smile. also when she’s being a massive prick. jess cannot stand pricks but carol manages to make it work somehow. it’s annoying. “hey, whatever you think will work. i am also useful as a spy. not that you’ll need one, but just in case.” a shrug. she honestly doesn’t know if she’ll enjoy being in a spaceship for too long. she’d think it’d get crowded and like she needs to get out if it weren’t because she knows those ships are gigantic. it’s like those cruise boats. a city in a ship. “god, you’re indeed a prick. i don’t know why i’m friends with you,” she says with a shake of her head. she’s smiling though, so that negates it all. “so you think i’m hot, right? because jennifer conelly is hot,” she answers with a wiggle of her eyebrows. supposedly suggestive, probably just ridiculous. she clears her throat. carol sounds sincere. and while she’s her friend, it really does mean a lot that carol thinks she’s special. “well i think you’re special too.”
VALKYRIE
“Brilliant!” Valkyrie’s eyes lit up once Jessica fetched the items from within her coat. “You start with the note, I’ll check the other.” The warrior’s penmanship left something to be desired. Jessica would also know the right things to say anyway. “Aha!” The other idiot had a belt which Valkyrie soon snatched. She tried to figure out if it would be long enough to keep both men apprehended. It would be a tight fit but oh well, they should have thought about that one before picking a fight. “I’m not sure if this will be strong enough to keep them here…” The belt had been wrapped around two pairs of wrists as secure as possible.
“Cool,” was all she said before writing down about how they had just rid the world of a few assholes and how they should take them to the precinct and take a dna sample or something. In case they were involved in anything shady, which wouldn’t surprise her. “That’s ok. We can stay close and watch them until the police arrives. Somewhere where we can see but cannot be seen. Like a roof,” she suggested looking at her friend work. “I’m sure they’re not stupid enough to try and run away, but they are pretty stupid so.” She left the note on one of the dude’s chest and hoped it’d remain there. She tucked it on his neckline next, sure it wouldn’t move. “Ok, all done. Shall we?” she asked looking at possible hiding spots.
CAROL
you’re just that good. of course her mind goes there in her own personal adaptation of murphy’s law. but against all odds carol decides on the tamest approach possible; letting it slide. jess is quick enough to justify her choice of words without her input anyway and she isn’t so sure that the scales would tip in her favor if she forced the brunette to repeat herself. “thank you.” her smile is sincere, lacking it’s usual teasing quality and the mischief lingering in the crinkles around her eyes. carol doesn’t usually care for other people’s approval, but she cares for jess’. taking a moment to consider the question posed, she lets her gaze wander, bottom jaw shifting in thought. “what if it doesn’t go wrong? —at the risk of sounding like everybody else; if it doesn’t scare you a little, it’s not worth doing.” of course that philosophy has its limits but she’s going out on a limb here, assuming jess is talking about personal risks rather than doing something truly reckless and possibly life-threatening. her cockiest grin in full effect once more, she shrugs around a smirk that so obviously reads ‘maybe, is it working?’ that it might as well be tattooed on her forehead. it feels like solely for that, jess drags the moment out a little bit longer. “yes,” carol cheers quietly, resisting the urge to fist pump then quickly follows it up with a “don’t worry, i won’t tell steve.” but, oh, she definitely will. it’s going to be the first thing coming out of her mouth the moment she is next to him. or maybe not. “take advantage of me?” brows lifting and grin stretching even wider, carol doesn’t have quite as much self-restraint this time. “you wanna reconsider your choice of words?” finally done teasing her favorite patron she gets to her feet, momentarily straightening into a perfectly executed position of attention and throws jess a mock salute, “yes, ma’am.”, before she disappears into the back with another wink directed the brunette’s way.
when carol returns, it’s with flour dusted along the right side of her jaw and her hair a little messier than before, the sleeves of her t-shirt still rolled up as not to be in the way and an errand smudge of chocolate just below her elbow. she drops into the seat opposite of jess without preamble or warning, like she’s the only one who was ever supposed to occupy that spot in the first place and slides a cupcake towards jess. “here, do me a favor. try this.” it’s their newest creation - carol’s newest creation, mostly - chocolate and raspberries with a select list of ‘secret spices’. “it’s a work in progress. what do you think?” an inquisitive brow lifted, her head tilts almost comically, amplifying the mad grin lighting up her face. “too sweet?”
jess has shaken her head at both carol suggesting it might not go wrong —if she knew jess is thinking of her and how it’d all go to shit if she opened her mouth her opinion would change— and also when she has given jess the chance to reconsider her words. she’s not sure if carol’s flirting for real or just joking, either way she’s going to give as good as she gets. even if it kills her inside. she may be a bit of a masochist. oh well. there’s worse things to be. especially when she gets carol flirting and smiling and making her heart flutter in the most stupid way.
also when she gets carol sitting down in front of her full of flour and chocolate and a complete but adorable mess. she wants to reach out and do something about it, but she doesn’t dare. instead, she does as she is told and takes a bite out of the offered cupcake. “i think it’s not a favor if i get to eat delicious cupcakes for free,” she answers with a smile. “it’s really great, carol. the right amount of sweet.” just like its maker. “what does it have? besides the chocolate that didn’t end up on you, that is.” ok, so maybe she can’t help but tease her a little. just a bit.
❝ You call me young lady again, I'll shove my foot up somewhere it's not supposed to be. ❞
LENA
❝ i’ll be sure to increase your wage, then, ❞ lena comments as she follows the other’s lead. on the bike and with her helmet in place, the youngest luthor wraps her arms around the woman’s waist and holds on just as instructed. it’s not her favourite mode of transport, that’s for sure, but if it’ll get her out of harm’s way then so be it. she’ll just make a mental note to insist that whomever is watching her back has a car next time. after all, it would be a shame to escape the threat of death only to fall off the bike and meet her fate that way. the sooner she can get off the better. thankfully, jessica seems to know what she’s doing, and lena will thank her for that. until then, her grip increases and she absently slides closer. ❝ my place, ❞ lena calls in return. she’s not entirely sure what the other has asked, but between her own home and the deo, she knows which one she trusts most. unfortunately, the deo isn’t exactly high up on that list. ❝ take a right here and then the second left! ❞ she instructs over the noise.
❝ are you the one paying me and i never knew? ❞ jess asks with a fake surprised face that miss luthor cannot see. with a slight nod, jess follows her instructions even though she didn’t really need them. they’re there in no time and jess finds herself holding in a whistle of appreciation. fancy place. she already knew that, but it’s even fancier in person. she turns off the engine and takes off her helmet. then waits for miss luthor to get off before she does the same. ❝ i fear i’ll have to stay with you until i get a call saying everything’s ok. ❞ jess isn’t thrilled, she’d rather be fighting off the baddies, but she guesses it’s not that bad. at least miss luthor seems like an interesting woman. she can maybe get an interesting conversation out of this.
