King Felipe and Queen Letizia have traveled to Barcelona to honor, through various acts, the victims of the attacks that shook the city a year ago.
Barcelona remembers today the first anniversary of the attack of August 17. The city will host, during this weekend, several acts in tribute to the victims of the attack. This morning a wreath has been laid in La Rambla and a ceremony in Plaza Catalunya attended by the King and Queen, accompanied by the president of the government, Pedro Sanchez, of the Generalitat, Quim Torra, and the mayor of the city, Ada Colau. The motto of the day, "Ciutat de Pau" (City of Peace), wants to give prominence to the victims of the attack. At 10 o'clock in the morning the wreath has been laid before the Miró mosaic, where the van of the attack was stopped, relatives, friends and hundreds of citizens of Barcelona have attended. Subsequently, an act has taken place in Plaza Catalunya, with musical performances and a reading with the seven languages of the deceased: Catalan, Spanish, English, French, Portuguese, Italian and German.
After following the tribute from a row behind where the survivors were located, a total of 150 among injured and relatives of the deceased, the King and Queen have greeted each and every one of the honorees.
