𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴   Electro-Technical Officer, Vipin Kumar Soni on the ultra-large boxship “CAP SAN ARTEMISSIO” was one of the runners-up in the digitalisation section of our 2022 essay competition, immediately predicting supply and demand combining to accelerate the impact of new technology. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲   We are delighted to announce that on 31 March Synergy Maritime Pvt Ltd took over the full technical management of the dual-fuel LPG vessel “MIRAI”, which can also carry ammonia and VCM.   Owned by leading Japanese shipowners Kumiai Senpaku Co. Ltd, the “MIRAI” is the first medium-sized, fully refrigerated LPG vessel to have been designed and built in China, and was constructed at the Jiangnan Shipyard in Shanghai under Synergy’s supervision. As project leader over more than 30 months, and in close liaison with owners, charterers and all other stakeholders, Synergy was involved in all design aspects and conducted the pre-contract specification review and the technical negotiations, plan approval, site supervision, delivery and gas trials. As pictured below, our Project Manager, New builds and Offshore Projects, Shirish Sharma, was honoured to be asked by Kumiai Senpaku Co. Ltd to attend the delivery and naming ceremony.   “𝗠𝗜𝗥𝗔𝗜” means “𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲”, and in both design and name this newbuild exemplifies owners’ vision of green seas by digitised, intelligent and state-of-the-art shipping.   Tommy Thomassen, our COO (Tankers), said “By tonnage, alternate-fuelled ships account for nearly half the global order book, and this project further proves that Synergy Marine Group is not just an asset manager - it is a technical thought partner for owners and can deliver integrated solutions which require cross-disciplinary skills.”    Subodh Borse, Director, New Building and Offshore Projects, Synergy Marine Group, added “In the decarbonisation and digitisation spaces, we have been working on vessels like this for some time, as part of evolution and futuristic can-do. A newbuild like the “MIRAI” allows us to deploy a great many areas of expertise, and our ability to do that means we have been able to take on such a variety of technically challenging projects in the maritime and offshore sectors.”    The “MIRAI” finished gas trials at Ulsan on 12 April is currently on her maiden voyage to the USA via the Panama Canal. 𝐍𝐨 𝐏𝐏𝐄 𝐨𝐧 𝐍𝐘𝐄 With physical duties done and all safe in the Day Room, Captain R.Ananth Fernando and his crew on the DAIWAN KALON brought in the New Year with a fancy dress competition, with much creativity and fun.     As pictured, the winners were Oilers Bryan Gayares and Plaridel Relloso - respectively formidable Spider-Man opponent Venom and Spartan warrior-king Leonidas - together with DC Rencel Laserna as super-villain the Joker, and many others came close with well-known cartoon, film and other media characters, with 3E San Pedro Jetmar showing great improvisation with a kettle for a magic lamp.     There was good cheer at this gathering, with Chief Cook Joffer De Asis proudly in his very own costume in having produced a sumptuous feast which was hugely enjoyed by all.   Well done to all competitors and indeed to the whole company on board the DAIWAN KALON for giving 2022 such a send-off and 2023 such a welcome.

Sometimes one of the joys of a port call is the chance to give something back to the wider maritime community, and so it was on 26 April for Captain Turbureanu and his crew on the bulk carrier "CORA OLDENDORFF" when they had the pleasure of receiving 31 students from the nautical school in Brindisi (the Istituto Tecnico Economico e Tecnologico Carnaro-Marconi-Flacco-Belluzzi), together with tutors Stefania Catanzaro and Antonio Catanzaro. A plainly industrious, very happy and much enjoyed visit was organised in liaison with the Brindisi Port Maritime Advisor, and following safety familiarisation there were tours of the Engine Room, Deck and Bridge, with crew members describing the vessel and its equipment, and answering many interesting and also searching questions. Restorative fruit juice and snacks were then provided, and the students disembarked with many positives to ponder in relation to a possible career at sea.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 1 May is International Workers' Day, or Labour Day in some parts, the annual celebration of workers promoted by the international labour movement. The meaning, spirit and entire rationale of the day are all captured in this photo by OS Ace Alcantara Flores on the bulk carrier “AFRICAN SPOONBILL”. Together, just as they set out, a weary team trudges back in stained PPE after a long and tough shift of painting and other maintenance. Looking forward to a clean-up and some food and well-earned downtime, these four seafarers remind us all just what it is to make a living doing many hours of physical work, often with discomfort and sometimes with dangers to manage, and they and all alike will ever have the admiration, respect and support of everyone in the Synergy Marine Group.

Earlier this month Pantheon Tankers, one of the leading names in the wet trades, took delivery of the “SEA ALTUS”, the eighth in its new series of chemical tanker/Type III vessels, and it is with great pride that Synergy Group announces that it is now providing the technical management for all eight.
