As a country famed for rain, umbrellas and more rain (in this case England specifically although my point is true of Wales too), why is our flag mostly white? The house opposite has an English flag hanging out of an upstairs window and it is already looking rather sorry for itself. Is that the point? A representation of the feeling of our nation? That in good times we shine brightly but at when trouble is around we slowly merge into the background?
Or maybe there is a low standard of flag production.
