#weaving pattern

So when I claim tablet weaving is fun and easy (for me)! I do not mean these ones. These were a nightmare and I had so much fun and want to do another. XD there are 2 bands in this photo, one is roughly 1/4" smaller than the other and they're the exact same pattern. The only difference was how tightly I wove the second one. The 2 black bands on either side have 4 threads per card, the rest of the band in the middle has only 2/4 of the holes strung with thread! And most of the time the ones strung are opposite each other so each card wants to sit rotated in the opposite direction. Normally once I've turned the cards I can let go and they just sit there. These ones, as soon as I have let go, they spring against the tension, so I have to hold onto them constantly or loop an elastic on them to hold them together.

Pattern is here and there's lots of info about tablet weaving in general! Done in cotton crochet thread. 40 cards.

I can't decide if I like the back or front better. This is also the one where I had to trust the process bc I strung it up upside down and wove the whole thing backwards!

Question:

Before I go through the whole pattern development process, is it possible to weave a woodgrain design on the inkle loom?

Is there a good one out there already that I could support instead of attempting to design my own?

Weavers and Loomers: where do you source your patterns from?

I'm not yet at the stage where I can produce my own designs and google has seemingly decided that weaving, crochet and knitting are clearly all the same term 🙄

I'm struggling to find a basic, preferably free, pattern for a hooded poncho that I can do on my 4 shaft counterbalance loom

hey, does anyone have experience making tablet weaving patterns, and would be able to give me assistance designing one?

ive made an attempt at this before, but im trying to achieve a specific design, and i couldn't figure out a way to get it without super long floaters (which i was trying to avoid) or without using 8 threads (something im not opposed to, but was finding really hard!)

this would be the design im trying to achieve- three colours and the border colour

here were my original attempts at translating it into a pattern

(id also like that line in between the cross and circle but i figured i could add that on easy enough- the software was a little complicated so i just ran a basic simulation w/o messing around)

i figure theres definitely a way to get it down to 6 (two red two grey two white- could probably even cut off one of the whites?) but i do know thatd make a more complicated pattern! i think id be ok with that, i just wasn't sure how to do that one on my own. anything to cut down the number of threads would obviously be good- im going to need to make a lot of this, so the less bulk / "wasted" yarn the better

im not fixed to a specific width either, its more about the proportions of the design!

any advice would be greatly appreciated! im picking it up specifically for this project, so im lacking... a Lot of experience
