the whole reason i found out about the ancient copy of avast not working on my website's server is that my website keeps getting a 403.9 error- too many users online. iis5 on windows xp pro has a limit of 10 users at once. i don't remember if i did that or if it's a software limitation
not sure what i can do about this. i blame ai. it has to be a bunch of ai bots constantly scraping my website, i really don't know why anyone would be targeting me with a ddos attack, my website is just a handful of basic html pages ever since i took down the forum because it was getting overrun with spambots.
os2world was apparently having similar problems, and implemented an ai detection thing called anubis which seems pretty cool and i would definitely use, but there doesn't seem to be any way to implement it on microsoft iis 5.1 on windows xp professional.
does this mean im finally going to have to upgrade my server?
in the meantime i made some changes to robots.txt. maybe that will slow them down, although it doesn't seem to have any effect yet.
