New York Comic Con Craziness
We waited until 12pm EDT for 3 day passes to go on sale. As the 4 day passes sold out in under an hour last week. I know, I tried to buy them. NYCC's website for purchasing tickets, crashed today shortly after the tickets went live (high demand much?).
So you click on the page where you (hope) are going to purchase tickets. Instead of taking you directly to a cart, you get put in an online queue. Supposedly you are placed in que in the order you arrive and will be forwarded to the ticket page as the line moves. NYCC advised NOT to refresh your screen in the queue. We tried to play the numbers game and opened a page on my computer, and a separate one on my husband's computer. As we needed to purchase multiple 3 day passes (for us) and several Saturday only passes (for friends).
My husband had to leave, so I started watching the two different computer screens. I also brought up the ticket system on my iPhone as well. I grabbed one of our iPad mini's to keep me entertained while I waited. As I didn't dare navigate between any screens during the queue.
After waiting in queue for almost 45 minutes (after the initial website crash). My husband's website came up to the cart. I jumped over to his computer and madly tried to click on tickets. My heart DROPPED. It said that 3 day passes were already SOLD OUT! Okay I told myself. Don't panic, you are still talking to that person on eBay who has the 4 day passes up for sale. Get the Saturday tickets you need.
Shoot, how many do we need now? B&R, J, D, and what about cousins? Crap I can only get a max of 6 tickets. Ok, well get 6. I don't think I have typed that fast in quite some time.Complete check out, wait I have to pick expedited shipping unless I want will call? WTF, ok, pay an extra $10 for that. HOW MUCH IS TAX? Seriously you are killing me. Ok fine. PRINT confirmation.
WAIT now my computer has the checkout cart up. So I jump up again and switched computers. WHAT?!!! 3 day passes are NOT sold out. BUY!! OMG I am SO EXCITED. I freaked out when 4 day passes sold out last week. I was NOT going to be happy if 3 day passes sold out too. Very happily ordered 3 day passes and completed checkout.
Returned to look at NYCC Facebook page. They just posted about 3 days NOT being sold out. People are PISSED. Many people bought single days, or multiple single days (more expensive) since the 3 days were showing as sold out. Passes are going up on eBay with insane mark-ups. This happened last week with the 4 day, VIP and Special access passes that all sold out in under an hour last week. People are such scumbags. I like going to this event, but they really need to figure out ticket sales and the online process. This is insane.
