Hello! Hopping on here again with a new recommendation: King of the arena by LICO studios and artist Kyeongchan Han.
Plot: First-year highs chooler Gilsu Lee is traumatised by violence due to severe bullying at his previous school. He moves from Seoul with his family and enrolls into his new district school, Yukmun Gwan High School, YMG High for short. On his first day he braces himself for the bullying that will inevitably ensue, but he's shocked when he witnesses his new classmates' behaviour: everyone seems friendly with each other, and no bullying happens. He soon discovers the reason school life is so calm: YMG High's Arena gives everyone a place to fight grievances out. Gilsu must now navigate school life with this system in place.
Other than super cool designs, the characters themselves are super cool, multifaceted and three-dimensional, with backstories and character development. The fighting scenes are sick and as I already said the art is amazing. The plot is also super cool, with many different "players" in the scene. I encourage people who like action and underdog stories to read it!
First-year Gilsu Lee transfers schools to run from the bullying and violence. And the new place seems almost perfect. Everyone in his class is friendly and kind, and no one is bullying anybody. Violence? No, we don’t do anything like that in this school. That’s what the “Arena” is for. Don’t forget, Gilsu. What happens in the ring stays in the ring!
Absolutely love this webtoon. The art, the story, the characters are all amazing and I hope you check it out!!!
