Lamborghini Countach LP-400 "Periscopio"
Coachbuilder Francis Lombardi used the 1970 Turin Motor Show to present a sports car based on the NSU 1200 TT. Lombardi’s 1200 SS version kept the TT's rear-mounted 1.2-litre four-cylinder engine and rear-wheel drive, clothed in a wedged-shaped fastback with a sharply defined beltline, concealed headlamps, and recessed door handles. This was around the time VW had taken over NSU, so the Lombardi car stood little chance of making it down the Neckarsulm production line.

The Opel GT2 was a futuristic, wedge-shaped concept car unveiled at the 1975 Frankfurt Motor Show. It was envisioned as a potential successor to the original Opel GT, though it never was. The rearward-opening sliding doors operated without visible external rails; the operating mechanism was hidden in the side mirror housings. Though the GT2 went no further, some of its design elements trickled down into GM future models.
The Autobianchi G31 was designed by Pio Manzù and built by coachbuilder OSI. Presented at the 1968 Turin Motor Show, it used the transverse drivetrain from the Autobianchi Primula, adapted for a mid-engine layout. Though the G31 did not progress beyond prototype stage, the car’s seating became the stylish Manzù Lounge chair.
