The twisted irony of Professor Orloff reminding Thing (Isaac Night's hand) that though he doesn't know who he came from (and thus, in a sense, who he was when he was whole), he is seen and valued, praising the Addams family for adopting him, only to have Night (aka the rest of Thing) come along and essentially tell Orloff his life is nothing, nothing more than borrowed time to Night despite it still being a valuable thing to Orloff, and then proceeding to brutally kill him.
