Hyde's from Wednesday aren't inherently evil but Tyler is.
I saw two comments on a Tiktoker I follow's video about Tyler. One was about how Tyler doesn't like killing and that he's not bad... and the other was about how Hydes aren't evil.
I've possibly made a post about the first topic, about Tyler enjoying what he does as the Hyde... So i'm hopefully going to talk mostly about hyde's in general.
Hydes in Wednesday are different to their source material.
Jekyll makes Hyde out of his negative traits in some versions while in others Hyde is a way for Jekyll to do bad things without it being on him... from what I understand at least.
I made a post about Jackson Jekyll and got it explained that Hyde isn't evil but instead the 'bad' parts of Jekyll in the same way Holt is insufferable and kinda an asshole compared to Jackson. Thank you to that person, I have bare minimum knowledge about this piece of fiction.
Hydes in Wednesday take a more literal approach, they give people a monstrous form which is fuelled mostly by negative emotions and the commands of a master. We see it mostly in the hatred/anger that Tyler feels towards Wednesday or Enid. He transforms in the church because of Enid, in Willow Hill he tries to because of black Wolf Enidsday with the body swap, after Wednesday escapes the crypt he transforms there based on both negative feelings for Wednesday and orders from Laurel.
Tyler is bad because of three factors.
Attention: His father basically neglecting him lead him to look for attention, which was where he turned to being a bully because negative attention is still attention and he wanted his father to pay attention to him.
Lack of information: Because he didn't know that there was a chance he was a Hyde, he had no way of preventing what happened to him. He had no way to keep himself safe and the two people who were meant to keep him safe was absent and 'dead' (Locked away in the willow hill basement).
Laurel: Her grooming is why he is unlocked as a Hyde in the first place and the reason he kills due to her commands.
These three things lead someone who developed violent tendencies - its canon that he physically assaulted Xavier then ruined his mural - into being an easy target for any older person giving him parental like attention and allowed that groomer to make his Hyde state seem like whatever she wanted to keep him as her pet.
Tyler was bad already before being unlocked with being a bully but after that he was just given a different form and strength to release his anger and other negative emotions which ended in many people dying and no guilt from him.
In a universe where Donovan wasn't absent, where he didn't turn to drinking and burying himself in his work and actually raised his son after Francoise was pronounced dead, Tyler wouldn't be a bad person. This is an easy fact to prove with my above statements, if Donovan had given Tyler attention and love, he probably wouldn't have been a bully and then wouldn't have been as easily swayed by Thornhill giving him affection.
Maybe his Hyde would have shown up at military school (still dont know if thats canon and where tyler was sent to stop being a bully... its canon in my brain) on some blood test allowing him to learn what he was, if he was even sent there still (Which could have just been something Donovan did himself so wanted Tyler to do as well... or to keep him outta town when a serious case came up and he wanted his son safe), or some real stressful situation like with his mom and her post-partum depression? hormone changes? I just know it was after Tyler was born... If Donovan had a conversation with his son about the possibility of him being a Hyde and set himself as the master through safe means just in case, none of this would have happened... or at least it would be very different.
Tyler wouldn't have been groomed as easily and manipulated into enjoying being violent and shitty again. Laurel would have had no new information for him, nothing to make Tyler trust her and therefore would have either failed, died or had to force him to kill.
In this universe, Tyler had no prior violence, he wasn't a bully. Maybe he was just an athletic kid, he had a healthy place to put any anger or grief he had through working out and pushing himself in his sport. This would mean he wouldn't enjoy the killing Laurel forces him to do - assuming she still manages to awaken him or take control of his Hyde via the plant serum and forced submission - and meaning he feels guilty for his actions.
After being sent to willow hill, he'd probably try to heal, he'd do what Fairburn wanted in terms of therapy and talk about what was going on, they'd find a way to give Tyler a new master or make his father his master again and slowly test him around people in willow hill during free time. The scene with Wednesday wouldn't have been him getting angry and trying to transform to harm her, it would be him apologising and feeling genuinely bad for what he did, he'd feel upset that his dad is dead and be without a master again until Fairburn can find someone suitable for him, Wednesday might accept the apology but never see him romantically again (though wyler would be able to come from this version of events).
When all of willow hill security goes down, Tyler wouldn't try to harm Wednesday, he'd just flee. Probably go to his home and barricade himself inside, maybe he'd hide in his room in one of his dad's jackets and mourn that loss. The rest of season 2 could stay similar with Francoise finding him and making her his new master to allow him to stay safe but then Issac shows up and does all this bad shit. Maybe he'd still try to hurt Enid because of anger he has towards her but wouldn't be able to. He'd feel horrible for Issac burying Wednesday alive and capturing thing and Pugsley. He'd accept being taken away from Jericho and being able to start fresh with Capri and would enjoy time with the Hyde pack because no one would know him, he'd be able to be with people like him and maybe find someone for him there.
I already failed my hope of talking mostly about hyde's in general... this is a Tyler drabble - is that what this is? an imagine? count this as my first official Tyler fic ig :)
Now onto Hyde's in general.
As said at the start, Hyde's are people with a monstrous form which is fuelled mostly by negative emotions and the commands of a master.
The actions of a Hyde depend entirely on how they are as a person and who their master is.
Tyler's is explained before the little imagine au thingy.
A Hyde who is violent normally but has a good master isn't going to kill without being told to and would probably have other ways to get the violent urges out - like sport or being given time in their Hyde form to hunt a specific animal for their master.
A Hyde who isn't violent but has a bad master would result in a really guilty Hyde and possibly one who ends their own life to be free of the torment.
A Hyde who isn't violent with a good master is a perfect pairing and the Hyde would probably never use their form, maybe only using it when their master is in danger.
If I made a Hyde oc, they wouldn't have to be a murderous beast unless I want them to be.
Hyde's are a interesting monster and in other circumstances, Wednesday would probably love to be around one to study it and learn everything she can about them.
The writers just failed to pull through and are now making it everyone's problem. They're trying to make people like their golden boy Tyler when the show is about Wednesday... I made a whole post about a spinoff they could do for Tyler (Here)
Anyways, thanks for reading ig, if you disagree... be nice please.
