squads are different from “food soul collection”
food soul collection is bad and inaccurate and i hate it
origin of squads come from the button in the game literally called “squad” and it’s next to the food soul button
in the game, squads are usually supposed to consist of five food souls aka that’s why theres usually five or more food souls in a “squad” (few exceptions like pizza trio)
squads are originally based on BOTH “linked skill” and “backstory/lore”
squads are basically fanmade, but they're useful to everyone because it groups certain food souls so it’s easier to memorize them instead of trying to name every single food soul alphabetically (instead of trying to name an entire list of 80+ food souls, you just need to know the food souls that are in a squad)

squads are never really set in stone because funtoy likes to do that
not everyone can memorize squad names, but it’s really about choosing what set of backstories and lore you really REALLY love to read and then that squad is all that you will ever think about
