As someone who is 100% clueless about weed, a genuine question: how is the experience different from one strain (is that the right word?) to another?
So before I started buying weed legally, I never really knew what I was smoking. Dealers don’t always tell you strains and stuff and it always felt weird to ask. Once I started going to the dispensaries, I wanted to learn about strains. I’m not really educated on the exact drug science of strains and such (weed science can get hella complicated) but it’s just about slight differences in the plant itself.
Strains are genetic mixes of other weed plants. Some are like really core genetic plants that get used and crossed a lot and other are rare plants that may not get grown often due to small yield size or unpopular flavor or what have you. Each strain has unique flavor notes and general effects on the body (though, people often disagree on what certain strains taste/smell like or even what effects they have).
Some strains are used to target pain while others focus more on relaxation or energy or sociability. The effects do change from person to person, but you can get a general idea of what strains are meant to target what desired effects. I personally try to go for productive, high-energy, or anxiety-reducing strains. Some people will focus on heavier strains to combat pain or insomnia.
It’s all based on your body and what effects/flavor notes you’re looking for. I hope you enjoyed my (kind of high) ramble about strains as someone who doesn’t know a lot about weed science but finds it v interesting.
