👆🏽Scroll first, then read 👇🏽 — The easiest way to imagine the process in which the ECS works is to look at how it deals with trauma. In this case, blunt force – something universal, like stubbing your toe. If you by chance haven't experienced this, hitting your not-so-funny bone is a similar bummer. Y'all know what I'm talking - that ish hurts in a way you can't deny. All those nerves getting shook at once – I legit think I've broken my foot every. single. time. Depending on how efficient the ECS is though, that excruciating pain only lasts what – 15 seconds? 30? Personally I feel like it takes ~45 seconds before my body has released enough endocannabinoids that the pain stops radiating throughout my leg and I relent that maybe it's not broken. I will also admit I can occasionally be dramatic. – Now seems like a good time to point out a V. IMPORTANT aspect of the ECS, one that often gets spoken about negatively when we bring THC into the mix (which remember, I'm NOT discussing Cannabis anywhere in this post. Not even here. Still talking ENDOcannabinoids). Like a broken record, every time I stub my toe the second confession following it not being broken is, “I always forget how much that hurts!”. When it comes to trauma, the ECS regulates both how we PERCIEVE the pain caused, and how we REMEMBER it. YOU didn't really forget, your Endocannabinoid System just worked its magic to protect against that trauma being embedded in your conscious. #weedforthought. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bstiwn-hORO/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=ixvtfegjqqkb
