"GET THE HELL OUT OF MY HOUSE, YOU BITCH!" his dad yelled at me. My boyfriend gets up, pushes his dad out of his room, closes and locks his door. His dad continues to yell and kick the door for a few minutes. Then, silence. I get up from the bed and grab my bag, "I'll go". He grabs my arm and looks me in the eyes. I remember when I first met him and he told me his dad's temper whenever he brought a girl over. Didn't matter if it was his girlfriend or just a friend, his dad would kick them out. I turn around, "I'll be fine". I sit on his lap and give him a hug. I start to feel my heart tighten, tears beginning to form. I hold my tears back and get up. I held his face in my hands and kissed him. "I'll walk you out, okay?" he whispered as he gripped my hand. "Stay here, I don't want you to get into anymore trouble." He looked at me and l loosened his grip on my hand. "Be good, okay?", I said as I unlocked the door and walked out. His dad was sitting on the couch and he glared straight at me when I walked towards the front door. His mom tried to give me a smile as I walked past her. I smile and gave her a slight smile I walk out and close the front door. I can hear yelling between his dad and mom while I was putting on my shoes. Slowly, I felt tears come out of my tears. "Everything's going to be okay", I repeated the phrase in my head. I grab my bag and pulled out our notebook. I grabbed a sharpie from my bag and opened to a new page in the notebook. "I think it's best for us, not to talk to one another again. I love you." I close the book and wipe away my tears. I put the notebook against his sneakers and walk down the stairs. As I walked out the door, I texted him, "Check the front door, the book is next to your sneakers." I walk to the bus stop. I wanted to cry, I wanted to drop on my knees and cry everything out. My heart tightened as I walked toward the bus stop. "He's probably read it by now" I thought. The bus had to come faster. If he read it already, he would run out after me. My phone starts to vibrate in my pocket. I pull it out and it's from him. I answer it, "Where are you?" he says. I managed to say "bus". "DON'T MOVE, I'm coming." he says, out of breath. "Shit" I thought. As soon as I put away my phone, a bus showed up around the corner. I pull out my bus card. I kept looking at the street corner, scared that he'll come before the bus came. The bus pulls up and opens the doors. I jump in and grabbed a seat next to the window. The bus closes its doors and starts to drive away. When the bus stopped at the stoplight, I heard someone slapping the side of the bus. I look and saw it was him. He was covered in sweat and tears. He pulled out his phone and signaled me to pick up mine. "DON'T LEAVE" he screams into the phone. I look at him through the bus window as tears came down his face. I put my hand on the bus window and look at him, "Please smile." I said and hung up. The stoplight turns green and the bus drives off. I look back at the street and he's just standing there, watching the bus drive off. I turn back around and put my head down. Tears, slowly came down my cheeks. ___________________________________________________________________ Next few days was hell. I felt like nothing. I barely ate. All I did was go to school and sleep. It was like my heart was ripped out of my chest. I felt emptiness, hollowness. Nothing meant anything to me anymore. My brother called me a week later, "Sky, get ready now. We're coming to your house to pick you up". Half awake, I got dressed and walked out of the house. "What happened?", I asked when I got in the car. "He's the hospital, Sky", he turned around and looked at me. My eyes widen and my body felt frozen. When we arrived at the hospital, my brother held onto me and lead me to his room. "He started a fight last night with some guys at the bar. He got beat pretty badly. A few ribs broken and scars. He'll be fine, though. Go, I'll wait out here, go inside" he pushes me into the room and closes the door quietly. I stumbled quietly into the room. I looked over and saw him laying motionlessly on the bed. He had a bunch of scars of his face and his chest was bandaged up. He was knocked out from the painkillers that were given to him to lessen his pain. I grab a towel from the table and wet it in the bathroom. I walk over and start to clean his face. Some of the scars were still bleeding. I put down the towel and put my hand of his face.. I stroke his cheek slowly, "Why'd you do this to yourself, you dumbass" I thought as tears came down my cheeks. I stumble away into the bathroom. As I was washing the towel, I was just spacing out. The water was really hot but it felt so numb to me. I was spacing out and staring at myself in the mirror. My cheeks bright red and eyes were so puffy from crying. "Sky.....sky..........sky............sky...." I hear from the room. I put the towel to dry and walk out of the bathroom. I thought it was my brother. I walk around to find him staring at me with his eyes barely open. My eyes widen and I take a step back. We stare at each other for a while. I straighten myself out and started to turn to leave. "Don't" he said with a weak tone. "Please stay, I need you.". I hear him trying to get off the bed but his pain causes him to slam back into the bed again. He whimpers in agony but manages to say "please" again. Tears rushed down my face and I start shaking. The pain in my chest was unbearable. I turn around and face him. I walk up to his bed side and stood there. His hand slowly reaches out from under the covers and grips my hand gently. I stare straight at the floor, unable to meet his eyes. "How are you?" he asks. I look up to him, dumbfounded. "You get beaten this bad and you ask about MY WELLBEING?" I screamed inside my head. His grip on my hand tightens, "I missed you...a lot." I stare at him with my eyes covered in tears. I wanted to yell at him, I wanted to beat him up more for getting himself into the fight but I couldn't. It was like someone super glued my mouth and I was unable to speak. He pulls me against his chest. I could hear his heartbeat. He took a deep breathe and exhaled slowly. His arms tighten around me. I smelled his scent. It wasn't a cologne or the scent of the hospital gown. I was just his scent, my favorite scent of all. Memories of us, rush back into my head. All the days we spent together, walking around, going to the lake and chilling at his house. Just being in his arms, made my day a little bit brighter. I pull my hand free from his grip. I start to pound slowly on his chest. After every pound, his body would tighten cause of the pain. I had my eyes closed but tears were still flowing out. "Why...why.."I murmured. He grabs my hand and stops me. "Because I lost my most prized possession. The one that gave me confidence in doing things, the one that would support me even when the world had given up to me, the one who shared their warmth with me, the one who loved me for me, and last of all, the one who gave me a reason to keep living." I put my arms around him and bawled in tears. He places his face next to mine. "Please, never leave my side again" he whispers.
