I've just been in a homelander needs all the wholesomeness recently and I just keep thinking I need someone to take him to do mundane shit like bowling or to an arcade and him be confused and bored with all the arcade games cuz he isn't really into that at all and of course hasnt really experienced this shit but just he finds out he's good at skeeball randomly or something and then gets a shit ton of tickets to get a prize and gets all happy when he gets his lil prize I just need wholesome. My mind goes brrr at 4 am excuse me
I'm with you on the need for wholesome Homie content (too bad it's the naughty content month)
However I feel like this would be a perfect time for reader to take both Homie and Ryan for a fun day out. Something along the lines of,
"Alright everybody stop sulking and watching TV, we're going out to have some real fun."
Because really they need to go somewhere else that's not the Vought tower for christ sakes. And a little family day out won't hurt. You'd get Homelander to dress casually because otherwise he will attract everyone's attention and that is so not what you're going out for! He argues and argues and argues until Ryan also asks him. He finally begrudgingly agrees and changes into something casual.
So you all go play arcade games or whatnot and very soon after it's like you're a parent to two kids. Homelander would at first complain about the place, how it's boring or beneath him to bother playing silly games like this. But then he sees how much fun Ryan is having.
Because this boy grew up in similar isolation, this is just as new to him as it is to Homelander. And suddenly you're watching them both use their unfair power advantage (because let's be honest, wouldn't anyone) to win an exorbitant number of tickets. While you're eating crappy food watching them smile and laugh as they collect and place another wad of tickets on the table you're sitting at.
And somehow they accumulate enough tickets for one of the big prizes and instead of getting one each Homelander tells Ryan to pick something he wants because why would he get a prize that's silly, he's a grown ass man. So when Ryan comes back with the winning prize all excited Homelander's like.
"Happy with your prize buddy?"
"Yeah! But dad, it's our prize. We won it together." And he gives it to Homelander for safekeeping. It takes everything for Homelander to not start weeping in the arcade and you take them back home already gushing about how great of a day out you've all had and how you can't wait to repeat it.
That toy now forever sits displayed—no matter what it is— for everyone to see. Because it symbolises a lot more than the thousands of tickets it cost.
