Week #1

More on the Academy

Because this is the first year the Academy has been opened, it is typical that students may be interested in knowing exactly what this vast campus has to offer. Though it is in a secluded location in the Riverlands, the campus itself could provide plenty of entertainment. Here is a short list of some of the things that are available right on site:

There is a forest that is at the back of campus, students are allowed to walk five minutes into the woods but then there is a fence which seems unsurpassable.

On the eastern side of campus is a small lake which offers kayaking, swimming and fishing. Because of its location it is called East Lake.

There is a gymnasium equipped with a weight room, track field, mixed martial arts studio and indoor pool.

There is an auditorium which will be used for assembly's and to host the occasional movie viewing. 

There is a woodshop where students can learn to make a variety of things in their free time.

A small coffee shop called Crossroad's Cafe is open late, though their coffee isn't particularly great.

Week #1

I plan on having events and prompts posted throughout our time role playing together to keep things fresh and interesting. For week 1, we will say that the students are starting to move into their dorms (I'll post roommate assignments later) and get familiar with the campus. Classes won't start until a to-be-determined designated date.

Because the school is run by an independent governing of education board, no one student has more say with its running than another. All the girls live in Nymeria Hall and the boys live in Aegon Hall. There is a central cafeteria where meals are taken.

For this first week, I encourage all players to interact with each other and get acquainted!

Re-defining your moments

I remember watching Jennifer Lopez in a scene where an evening after work spent eating alone at her apartment is portrayed as this sad and depressing time in her character's life. At the time, I had this sad feeling that one day this may be me. Interestingly enough this evening is one of those, spent alone, eating a fantastic dinner that I've prepared. Naturally, it is expected for this set of circumstances to be sad and depressing. However, I'm not sure that I can agree here. Surely, there is that lingering desire in me to spend such evenings with a significant other but I am not over taken by it.

This lonely evening is quite perfectly what I needed today. I spent yesterday on my feet from 7am to 1am in a city that I've never visited before and likely won't again for some time. I was half past dead by the time I finally sank into my bed, only to be awakened again at 7am. This lonely, sad evening is quite perfectly what my body needed to recoup. I firmly believe that nothing is as it is. We define each moment through our God-given freedom of choice. What is sad, is that for many of us who watched that scene, an evening spent eating alone is a sad place to be. To that I say, re-define your evening.

Week Post #4

I cannot believe it's just a few hours away from Thursday. This week has flow by at a speed that even I can barely keep up with. It has yet to even be a week since that final assignemt of the last semester in my graduate certificate program and I find myself slammed in work at 10pm. This time, not with school assignments but with trainings, travels to be booked, emails to be followed-up on. It will be an understatement to say that work has "kicked up a notch". 

BUT, I've been blessed beyond comprehension. I've learned my way in an industry that I knew nothing about and to compliment myself, to a certain extent I've excelled. Nonetheless, to say it was all me would be foolish. I've had a great support system, great mentors at work, and a lot of favor from God. So as I freak out about this week already coming to an end and a mountain of work that needs to be completed, oddly enough I can relax because this journey seems to be cruise sailing. I don't know what this summer holds for me, school's over, promotion lurks around the corner, and I've yet to apply/be admitted to a masters program... I am happy to be where I am.

Also, I finished this semester with winning grades which is always a good cheers to the summer.

Week Post #3

This weekend, beginning with Friday, certainly left its imprint. Within the course of its 72 hours, I've seen the door close on two dreams and a door opening to something which I now find simple pleasure in. It's strange how quickly and unexpectedly life can change; how resilient I've grown to be. I've shed my share of tears, spent a proper amount of time in disappointment, reflected on what could have been, then with a deep breath, let it all go. Life is constant movement and not each movement leads to achievement. Tomorrow begins a new week and a new chapter in my life. I'm filled with equal hope, excitement, and gratitude that I have tried my best and regret nothing.

Week post #2

The weekend is finally here! This one has been long awaited although I still have an assigment to complete prior to any relaxation or celebration. I've been trudging along in a half-past dead body: my legs intensely sore from skiing and my mind relentlessly putting articles and presentations together to formulate a final analysis on health reform .....whilst contributing to three separate clinical trials, all in a too active stage. It's been a fun, tiresome, exciting week. The excitement is all from my bedroom furniture finally being delivered .. though not completely set-up. My bedroom is a mess with clothes, bedspreads, pillows, and furniture everywhere. Needless to say, this weekend, while long-awaited, will be no different than the week which gave way to it.
