How is it already Wednesday? I'm working for the weekend and hoping this one will be as nice as the last, when pink petals completely covered sidewalks and plants finally went into the ground. Turbo has a thing for vegetables and tries to nibble the tomato leaves every change he gets.
Weekend Snaps
After the hustle and bustle of Christmas, it was nice to have a weekend to relax—and all the snow on Thursday night and Friday morning meant offices were closed, giving us an extra day to unwind.
I know the tree will have to come down soon, but I'm not quite ready to see it go.
Weekends are for cooking oatmeal on the stove (yes, there's oatmeal in there, somewhere under all the strawberries).
Why shovel when you have a spare shutter laying around?
A Picture-Perfect Picnic
At the end of September, we drove up to Brooklyn for my friend Amanda's 30th birthday. She didn't want a blowout bash, but we had to do something special for her big day, so a group of us threw her an over-the-top picnic in Prospect Park. Our pals Darrell and Nathan schlepped tons of stuff to set the scene; there were real teacups, wooden cutting boards, blankets, vintage books, a million balloons, and photo props. By the end of the day, Turbo and Merlin were partied out.
Weekend Snaps
When a simple activity takes time, it feels like an extravagance. Like making breakfast. During the week, I eat yogurt every morning, but on weekends I indulge with oatmeal cooked on the stove, avocado toast, and tea or cider in a favorite ceramic mug. Same with walking. When I don't have anywhere to be, I love to meander around the neighborhood, picking up interesting sticks and pinecones, instead of rushing from point A to point B. Even working, like I did much of the weekend, doesn't feel as bad when you can complete tasks at your leisure and have a pair of sun-loving dogs sitting beside your desk.
