Project: Balance Weekly Wallpaper #2- Dan!

(Descriptions and AU-related things under the cut in case y’all don’t want to hear about that)

Balance!Dan is WAY different personality-wise than actual Dan. He’s a lot more introverted and sensitive in this AU, and he is constantly afraid of hurting one of his friends (specifically Arin) with his powers, which are among the strongest in the story, to the point where upon first exposing his powers to Arin he made Arin promise not to let Dan hurt anyone of the Grumps or Sonic cast (Monika hadn’t appeared yet). He was the first one in the group to get powers, for reasons that will be explained as the story progresses. Also I feel I should mention that this is an Egobang AU, so Dan has a super mega mondo crush on Arin but keeps it hidden so as not to tamper Arin and Suzy’s relationship.

His design is mostly unchanged from the real-life Danny Sexbang costume. I got rid of the red ribbons around the hands because I like the cape to be flowy, and I added a hood to the cape that you can’t see here. I thought it would be cute.

Powers include enhanced strength, psychokinesis, limited teleportation abilities (he can only really teleport himself in the beginning), an advanced healing factor and he can generate large EMP blasts (though he can’t really control this yet).

So apparently today is Arin Hanson appreciation day (which I didn’t even know existed until this morning) and I decided to take it as an opportunity to draw something based off my Project: Balance AU! I really want to do more stuff involving this AU since I’ve been developing it for like two years and there’s so much I want to do with it!

Balance!Arin’s design is one of my favorites. Originally I wanted to base it off the old Egoraptor design, but it doesn’t really look like that now to me. The shoes are based off Mega Man, and the bandanna is taken from Street Fighter. And look, the return of the pink streak! In the story it used to be blond, but then Arin dyed it pink to reflect his powers (which are pink), and his costume. 

Powers include strength, speed, psychokinesis, pyrokinesis and telepathy (all the Grumps are psychically linked with each other). Also he gets stronger the more he gets hit.

(BTW, I’m planning on drawing all the major players in the AU as wallpapers similar to this as the weeks go by, so look forward to that!)

Project: Balance Weekly Wallpapers #11 and #12- Sticks and Monika! The final two Weekly Wallpapers!

(Yeah, I felt bad about deleting the Sticks one.)

Monika is kinda the reason the plot of this AU even exists in the first place. In the story, after Dan and Arin finished playing DDLC Monika sort of took a liking to them, and decided to use her Hacking Skills to open a portal to their world. Unfortunately, this had the unforeseen side-effect of creating the Anomalies; creatures of pure evil data that manifest on different worlds and corrupt them. So as a way of helping Monika but also since they weren’t using their powers for much else anyway, the Grumps and Sonic characters decided to start fighting the Anomalies to stop them from corrupting other worlds while also trying to figure out how to stop them from manifesting in the first place.

As a sentient AI, Monika is able to manipulate technology and codes to her will. She usually oversees missions with Tails, but she’s also in charge of supplying epic battle music. She can also generate force fields.

Now onto Sticks! She’s still a huge conspiracy nut in this AU, but she also has a large interest in Earth myths and legends (which comes in rather handy later). She also has a habit of spying on people, which is how she came to find out about Dan’s crush on Arin. She’s very good at keeping secrets, though, so only Sonic knows that she knows. I felt weird not having a wallpaper up for Sticks since she is a prominent character in the first two arcs, so I decided to repost her wallpaper.

And that’s it for the Weekly Wallpapers! These were really fun to do and I look forward to disclosing more information on this AU as time goes on!

I deleted the Sticks wallpaper because I got really paranoid about if people view it as racist and then I delete it and edit it people see it as whitewashing which is ALSO racist and I probably shouldn’t have posted it in the first place if I wasn’t sure it wouldn’t be seen as racist and I don’t want to offend people. I apologize for potentially offending anyone with Sticks’s AU design. 

Next week’s wallpaper will be the last one of Monika. Sticks will still be in the series, as she does have a big part to play in the first arc, but I’m probably going to tweak her design some more before properly starting the comic.

Project: Balance Weekly Wallpaper #10- Shadow!

Balance!Shadow just doesn’t care about anyone or anything. I mean, deep down he does, but on the outside he hates everyone and only laughs at their misfortune. He doesn’t quite understand how people like Amy or Dan can stay positive all the time. I wanted his human disguise to look like he belongs in a biker gang.

Next week will be Sticks, and then there’s only one more after that!

Project: Balance Weekly Wallpaper #9- Amy!

(I apologize for this being kinda late; I totally forgot what day it was and therefore started late!)

Amy is probably one of my favorite characters in ProBal. She’s usually very upbeat and happy, and tries her hardest to make sure everyone else is happy and doing okay. Her relationship with Dan in particular is one of my favorites.

She doesn’t love Sonic in this AU (or does she?); since Sonic basically dragged her, Tails and Shadow along with him to Earth, she was mad at him for it and slowly kinda lost her feelings for him (or did she?). The two are still close friends, though. 

Her human disguise is probably my favorite out of all of them. In my head she decided to make herself stick out as a human by dyeing parts of her hair pink to match her hedgehog quills, and wearing more jewelry. Her outfit is based off how she looked in the old Fleetway comics, which is kinda one of my favorite Amy looks ever.

Next week will be Shadow and his human disguise! There’s only two wallpapers left after that!

Project: Balance Weekly Wallpaper #7- Sonic! (and what a coincidence that today happens to be his birthday! Happy Birthday, Sonic!)

Balance!Sonic is a lot more snarky and cynical in this universe than in the games. Before the story began, Sonic basically dragged some of his friends over to Earth to essentially troll Arin into admitting he likes Sonic’s games (this occurred when they were playing 06 if anyone cares). Since then, however, this has grown into a mutual respect and friendship between Sonic and Arin, though there is still some teasing. Their relationship is one of my favorites in the story.

The Sonic characters that came to Earth all got special human disguises designed by Tails so they can walk around freely on Earth without anyone freaking out at the sight of Sonic the freaking Hedgehog just wandering around. Only the Grumps and a few select friends/family members are aware of their existence (as well as the Grumps’ powers, the monsters they fight (Anomalies), etc.) On Sonic’s right is his human disguise, and I’ll be drawing all the human disguises of the other characters on the next few wallpapers.

Next week will be Tails and his human disguise!

Project: Balance Weekly Wallpaper #6- An original character! His name is Aridan and he’s a fusion of Arin and Dan! Because why not? Cringe culture is dead!

Aridan is formed by Arin and Dan combining their powers into a new being. They’re usually very cheerful like Dan, but also has Arin’s temper. He is a very good boy and I love him very much. 

They can only stay fused for six hours at a time, though. Once six hours have passed, the strain being fused places on Arin and Dan forces them to separate and recharge. 

Also, remember when I first posted the logo for Project: Balance and I said the heart symbol was gonna be important later? This is what I mean! I call it the Balancer’s Heart! 

ALSO ALSO: I know Aridan sounds like Eridan from Homestuck, but I didn’t know that before creating Aridan early last year.

Next week will be Sonic!
