Hey so I got bored and started thinking about how I haven’t really drawn anything Balance-related in a while so here’s Balance!Dan bein all cool using his powers and shit.

It occurred to me that I’ve never actually posted a drawing of these guys using their powers. In 2020 I really want to get Project Balance started and powers get used a LOT in the story (seriously; there’s 6 arcs of about 11-13 episodes each that I have planned, and two of those arcs are directly centered around their powers (namely Dan’s), so I wanted to practice drawing then actually being used.

I need to draw Lucy more. She’s one of my favorite characters that I’ve ever created, not just in ProBal. So I decided to draw her showing her powers off to Balance!Dan for Inktober!

Decided to draw an OC from Project: Balance!

(There may be minor spoilers under the cut!)

This is Lucy. No major spoilers, but she’s sort of the main villain of the first arc. She’s a mysterious, snarky, sadistic British woman who values power over everything else, and she has some sort of connection to Dan and the origins of the Grumps’ powers. What is that connection? Well you’ll have to wait to find out! ...Once I actually get around to starting to tell this story.

Lucy is kinda one of my favorite characters in ProBal (which is the abbreviated form of Project Balance btw). Her story has been one of the most interesting ones to write for me personally. Originally she wore a red jacket but I changed it to black leggings that fade into red. The shirt was always the same, though. I added the fingerless gloves cause I think they look cool.

I wanted to make this look like a comic book cover, since comics are the format I’m leaning most heavily towards doing ProBal in (also maybe fics if I don’t feel like drawing a specific episode, and also I really want to do animatics!). There is a version of this piece that has the Project: Balance logo at the top.

I’m still kinda nervous about unveiling information about this project, as it’s probably the first big fan project I’ve ever really told anyone about. One of these days I’ll actually start the dang thing, but for now consider this a glimpse into another key part of Project: Balance!

I just had this idea and decided to do it. I like how Arin looks here.

I really like doing fun mini-comics like this (I have two more ProBal mini-comics; one I posted about Sonic and Monika discussing Smash and one I didn’t). I kinda wanna do these more often alongside the main comic (which BTW I’m still trying to decide on what format to do it in; I’m thinking some parts will be comic pages and others will be animatics a la Homestuck).

Project: Balance Weekly Wallpaper #2- Dan!

(Descriptions and AU-related things under the cut in case y’all don’t want to hear about that)

Balance!Dan is WAY different personality-wise than actual Dan. He’s a lot more introverted and sensitive in this AU, and he is constantly afraid of hurting one of his friends (specifically Arin) with his powers, which are among the strongest in the story, to the point where upon first exposing his powers to Arin he made Arin promise not to let Dan hurt anyone of the Grumps or Sonic cast (Monika hadn’t appeared yet). He was the first one in the group to get powers, for reasons that will be explained as the story progresses. Also I feel I should mention that this is an Egobang AU, so Dan has a super mega mondo crush on Arin but keeps it hidden so as not to tamper Arin and Suzy’s relationship.

His design is mostly unchanged from the real-life Danny Sexbang costume. I got rid of the red ribbons around the hands because I like the cape to be flowy, and I added a hood to the cape that you can’t see here. I thought it would be cute.

Powers include enhanced strength, psychokinesis, limited teleportation abilities (he can only really teleport himself in the beginning), an advanced healing factor and he can generate large EMP blasts (though he can’t really control this yet).

So apparently today is Arin Hanson appreciation day (which I didn’t even know existed until this morning) and I decided to take it as an opportunity to draw something based off my Project: Balance AU! I really want to do more stuff involving this AU since I’ve been developing it for like two years and there’s so much I want to do with it!

Balance!Arin’s design is one of my favorites. Originally I wanted to base it off the old Egoraptor design, but it doesn’t really look like that now to me. The shoes are based off Mega Man, and the bandanna is taken from Street Fighter. And look, the return of the pink streak! In the story it used to be blond, but then Arin dyed it pink to reflect his powers (which are pink), and his costume. 

Powers include strength, speed, psychokinesis, pyrokinesis and telepathy (all the Grumps are psychically linked with each other). Also he gets stronger the more he gets hit.

(BTW, I’m planning on drawing all the major players in the AU as wallpapers similar to this as the weeks go by, so look forward to that!)
