Really enjoying your Frozen 2 reaction posts. Is it just me, or does "All is Found" sound Spring Awakening-ish?
awww, shucks. it’s good to be back!
I hadn’t thought of “All is Found” as being particularly Spring Awakening-ish because it’s light on the angry guitars and weird detours into the minor key, but now that you’ve said it I can definitely hear some of that DNA in there. a kind of “All That’s Known”-y sort of “Purple Summer”-ness.
Hi, I’m trying to work on my own story but there is this fic I’ve seen on tumblr and couldn’t find it anymore. There was a link to AO3 for sure and the storyline was something like AU!Ten running a coffee shop and serving Rose every day. One day he realises that he’s living the same day over and over again and that it is linked to Rose’s death and it won’t stop until he saves her. I hope you’ll be able to help me! Thanks for the work you’re doing, it’s great!
A Place Where We Only Say Goodbye by weezly14 (Ten x Rose AU, teen)
what’s your favorite tenrose au?
I actually strongly prefer canon-verse fic to au, so picking favourites out of the like... ten multi-chapter AU fics I’ve read doesn’t quite feel fair.
However, there are two AUs that go on my list of favourite fics ever.
A Place Where We Only Say Goodbye by @weezly14: "And I knew that you were a truth I would rather lose than to have never have lain beside at all." He's served Rose Tyler coffee almost every day for a year, but he's never worked up the courage to really talk to her. Then he finds himself stuck repeating the same day a year in the past. Is this a chance at a different ending?
This is THE coffee shop AU. The time loop aspect gives it just enough of a Doctor Who feel for this canon-verse fan to be happy.
Perfectly Matched (series) by @lastbluetardis: James grew up hearing the legends of soulmates. How two—or three or four or however many—people could find each other by writing messages to each other on their skin, and he spent much of his time imagining himself with a soulmate, someone who would be his perfect match.
No surprise, I trust? This is my favourite soulmates au. I love how much we’ve seen James and Rose's relationship develop over the years, and now we’re watching their family grow.
If I had an orchard, I'd work 'til I'm sore
And you would wait tables and soon run the store
Gold hair in the sunlight, my light in the dawn (x)
idk man i just heard this song and thought of an au like 10 years after that coffee shop fic where john gets restless sitting in front of a computer all day in the city doing research and misses the coffeeshop so they pack up the family and move to a little cottage in the country on a farm and end up purchasing their own farm to table style restaurant and couldn’t be happier
Her Silent Throat (i sob every time) and the Emma and Killian are neighbors and shovel snow and Henry's a little shit series, I forget titles. OH and the Killian owns a coffee shop and Milah works there and there's the Christmas story too.
HST is the one fic I will be known for forever and I’m cool with that.
Little Shit Henry is my favorite to write, that one is Carol of the Bells
AND PATHS-VERSE oh man oh man oh man, Paths verse was so much fun, MILAH was so much fun, ugh I love that series.
Congratulations!

Fanfic writer Wednesday, 9/13
It’s time for another series spotlight, and today I want to recommend a classic. There’s this thing that happens when a fic is a fandom classic--after a while, people stop reccing it, because we assume everyone has read it. And then new people to the fandom go months without even hearing about it.
So, without further ado... Time Loop by @weezly14.
This series. This series, you guys. It is The Coffee Shop AU. All the classic elements are there--the Doctor (Ten) as the barista who harbours secret feelings for regular customer Rose Tyler, the Doctor knowing her order, the cute conversation over the counter...
And yet, this series is so much more. There’s a reason why the series is called “Time Loop.”
In the main story, A Place Where We Only Say Goodbye, Rose has been a regular patron of the coffee shop for a while... when one morning, the Doctor reads about her death in the newspaper. Not long after that, he wakes up and it’s January instead of March, and he goes to work... And Rose is there. He’s gone back in time to the first day she came into the shop.
From there, he goes through a series of time loops, trying to get things right, his relationship with Rose right, so they can be together and happy instead of her dying. The first half of the fic (give or take) are several false starts--he’ll get a few weeks or months in, then something will happen and he’ll go back to January. Then finally things begin to click, and it goes right...
But the genius of this fic and this author is that you really don’t know for at least six chapters of the actual, final timeline if they’re safe. (Maybe more... I haven’t counted recently.) And there are moments when it almost gets screwed up again. Big moments. So the tension that kept you going through the first part of the story, wondering if they’re going to make it to their happy ending, it’s still there.
For obvious reasons, the entire story is in the Doctor’s POV. So several of the pieces in the series are one-shots, looking at various key moments from Rose’s POV. It’s so interesting to see how knowing or not knowing about the time loop affects how they view events.
I honestly cannot rec this fic enough. I know other people feel the same way--in fact, I’m bound to get a handful of people yelling at me because every time it’s mentioned, we all go reread it. It’s that good.
