#tbt to last summer in Capadoccia, Turkey where people live in these homes they carved into natural formations known there as Faerie Chimneys. The energy was so profound it moved me to tears! These sacred lands SPEAK. _ What places have you been that bring up a deep sense of remembrance? Being here, I felt blasted by Sufism, and deep nostalgia of living in stone... Working with stone... Carving out a home from the earth herself. 🌿🙏🏻 _ All the little holes above the doors are holes they carved for pigeons. Pigeon poop was used as fertilizer and also to mix with other clay and saliva to make paint! They truly had a symbiotic relationship. It is so magical to hear their cooing. White pigeons are doves... They hold such powerful medicine of peace, innocence, and gentleness. _ Here, beneath the ground, there are ancient tunnel cities. There are over 200 deeply complex tunnel systems built over the years when people needed to hide from invaders. Some people spent an entire lifetime only living below the ground. They had very poor conditions there, but they were able to keep their culture alive. I have so much respect for the stories these lands hold. WOW. Can you feel it? _ It really makes you stop and realize how much we have to be grateful for. Thank you to the medicine keepers, tapestry weavers, pigeon stewards, grandmas and grandpas of Capadoccia... You live on in so, so many ways.
