What can you teach us about Wei Ji and Wei Fang?

There isn’t much to say about Wei Feng. Wei Ji is another matter.

Wei Feng was from Pei (or Jiyin). He was known for his intelligence and was hired by Zhong Yao as a senior aide to Cao Cao. However, in 219, he formed a plot to seize control of Ye. One of their conspirators revealed the plans, so Cao Pi arrested and executed Wei Feng and many others. Cao Cao blamed Zhong Yao for hiring him and fired Zhong Yao, although Cao Pi reappointed him almost immediately after taking over.

Wei Ji was from Hedong and was known for his scholarly talents even as a child. he was an expert in calligraphy and wrote an influential treatise on it. Cao Cao first made Wei Ji a staff officer, then a magistrate in Youfufeng. By 199, he had been appointed to the Secretariat.

As Cao Cao was preparing to fight Yuan Shao in 199, he worried about Liu Biao attacking his rear. He sent Wei Ji as an envoy to Liu Zhang in order to secure southern aid against Lu Biao. However, when he reached Chang’an, he found the road blocked and could not proceed.

In the previous years, many refugees from around Chang’an fled to Jing. Now that Cao Cao had restored order, they wanted to return. Wei Ji sent a message to Xun Yu and proposed plans to revitalize Chang’an’s economy so that people could return.

In 211, Cao Cao made plans to conquer the Liang warlords. Wei Ji suggested that they could simply be bought out, although Cao Cao chose to conduct a military campaign instead. While the campaign was extremely successful, afterwards Cao Cao regretted not taking Wei Ji’s advice since it was always better to win without battle.When Cao Cao beame duke, Wei Ji became one of his chamberlains and was tasked with reviewing matters of administration. Under Cao Pi, Wang Ji was largely responsible for writing the edicts by which Emperor Xian ceded power. Wei Ji then became a member of Wei’s secretariat and was enfeoffed. He continued to serve as a trusted adviser, and was noted for his spending and legal reforms.

Wei Ji lived to an old age and left behind a massive body of scholarly work.

Wei ji has actually attempted a few times in the past . He's tried hanging himself , poisoning / overdose and literally everything else. Of course they're all unsuccessful — either he gets interrupted or it just fails and chickens out last minute.

His mind often wanders to suicide when even the smallest 'inconvenience' comes up . Perhaps a kusuriuri had raised their voice at him or insulated him for doing something wrong. Perhaps he didn't get chores done on time and felt useless. Perhaps he had said something he shouldn't — whatever it is , its not easy for wei ji to forgive himself.

He wonders if he were to succeed... would anyone notice ?

His room is pretty far away from the other kusuriuris rooms. Would they smell his rotting flesh ?

Would they notice that wei ji didn't make breakfast the next morning ? Or if wei ji was out doing laundry ?

A part of him wants to be acknowledged , perhaps even make the others feel guilty for it . Yet he knows deep down that he's been enough of a burden already .

The kusuriuri should just go about their day without worrying about him dangling in his room .
