Why's the calories different for medium specifically
My weight probably shouldn’t be dropping.
I’m 5’4”, and have been that height for at least a few years, but now I’m at like 101 lbs. when I used to be 110-115 range.
All unintentional weight loss. Not a good sign medically.
I don’t think my mom will care too much considering how much she yells about cutting down and not eating so much so we(my siblings and I) don’t gain weight.
Sigh.
can i ask for you to give context to the broilers thing?
Sure, what a broiler chicken is is a chicken that is bred and meant for meat. These birds are meant to be grown as quickly and cheaply as possible. Specifically, within the US (idk meat industries elsewhere) broiler chickens are the cornish cross. These birds are meant to produce as much meat as possible as quickly as possible. Because of this, they grow rapidly to the point where sometimes their bodies cannot handle it.
It’s to the point where sudden death syndrome is a common condition in broilers. What sudden death syndrome is is heart attacks from the stress of growing too quickly. From my understanding, roughly 5% of broiler chickens are expected to be lost in that way.
For more context of what I’m talking about, because the modern cornish cross is messed up, here’s a graph of their change over the last 60 years
obviously, that chicken is carrying a ton of weight that it is not supposed to. This breed was made to be killed at 6 weeks old. They grow rapidly and will continue to gain more weight as they get older. Eventually, they stop being able to walk.
The concept that a broiler chicken, a cornish cross, can live years comfortably is ridiculous. The only way to keep the weight off of them is to starve them, which is ofc cruel. I’ve heard of people who have tried to keep CX’s alive but it’s just too cruel. The animal is never going to be healthy and is never going to live a good life
