UFC fighter Joanna Jedrzejczyk's face left disfigured after savage defeat by Weili Zhang at UFC 248 UFC fighter Joanna Jedrzejczyk's face was left disfigured by her Chinese opponent, Weili Zhang during the UFC 248 clash between the pair on Sunday. Jedrzejczyk, 32, and Zhang, 30, were both taken to hospital after their mammoth five-round contest, where the strawweight champion Zhang clung on to her belt following a split decision from the judges. Both fighters were caught by heavy punches early on in Las Vegas, and the pressure was applied back and forth with a winner by points not obvious. In the end, Zhang was given the nod, 28-27 by two judges while one judge scored it the same but to Jedrzejczyk. Whilst speaking in the post-fight press conference, UFC president Dana White, dismissed any talk of a rematch between the two, he said to the press: "Did you see what those two girls looked like after that fight? This is right before @stylebender tried to fight me on sight. 👀 So, what had happened was... @angieoverkill invited me to a Podcast/ presser for the UFC(Luv u! 🖤). We made our way to “backstage” area where a bunch of other fighters were kind of chilling. One fighter, a kind, gentle, gigantic human by the name of @domreyes24 said hello and told me he was preparing to fight the greatest fighter of our time, Jon Jones. You had to see the look I’m his eyes and body language as he was telling me how he was going to beat him. He would later do so in my opinion. 🤷🏽‍♂️ Anyway, I look over his gigantic shoulders and I see Israel talking with @danhardymma . He stops talking and quickly locks eyes with me. I give him the “Wadup” head nod and quickly shuts his conversation short, stands up and walks directly to me. As soon as he stood up I realized how fucking huge this man was. He was shoulder to shoulder with Dom and he was a weight class below him. I think to myself what a lot of his opponents probably think. “Oh shit”. He gets close to my face and then gives me this puzzled look then starts laughing. He looks at me and says “ Man, I thought you were Paul Acosta! I thought you came here for some smoke!” We both started laughing and making jokes. Mostly about avoiding Jon Jones eye pokes. It was such a cool moment. Izzy is a special human being. Yeah ,he can dismember a human in no time, but he’s also a genuine person and that’s really why he’s so popular. He’s got incredible character and an incredible team around him.
