Good to know that if Biden’s proposed $1400/adult checks do come through that, all total, we will have only had to pay $2500 ‘out of pocket’ for Heikki’s surgery.

... but holy fuck I didn’t realize quite how bitter I still am that our neighbor hit him but STILL hasn’t fessed up to it or attempted to pay us back for even part of it. It would be one thing if they were just ordinary folk, but these are retired old rich people.

(The fact that that expense wasn’t even an option and the breath-stealing ENORMITY of it are both equally true, but I may be a little bit more Big Mad about it than I thought)

So I had a horrific nightmare last night and woke up at 4am knowing that if I let myself fall straight back to sleep, I’d fall right back into the same nightmare. So I sat up for a while cuddling my cat til I felt calm enough to try again. Once I got back into bed, Heikki shuffled up so he could lay his head on my chest and tried to lick my face to death. He could tell I was upset, and he tried his best to make me feel better. He really is the best.

Whenever I stand at my kitchen sink, this dog comes up behind me and presses up against the backs to my legs. Little buddy, I get that you want to watch my six, but one of these days (and it’s going to be soon) I am going to trip over you and crack my head open on the island counter.

The temp drops into the single digits for the first time this winter, and this one turns into an abject diva.

This dog. He has a new habit. He brings over his first mouthful of food to the couch, spits it out next to me, and proceeds to mince his way through piece by piece. Only then will he finish his bowl like normal.

He just wants to share. I’mna die. 😭🥰
