Wolf RWBY AU Nobody Asked For But I Need To Write Down So I Can Forget About It And You Can All Shame Me Later Excerpt
The White Fang’s Ferocious Three
Weiss stared down at the three cubs in front of her, unamused, before turning to Blake. “I thought you said that The Three were powerful warriors,” she snapped. “These are nothing more than cubs.”
The biggest pup, a russet furred dog, gave a small growl. “We are powerful warriors, too!” He replied, indignantly. “Sienna said so!”
“This better not be some type of prank,” Weiss growled.
“Unfortunately for you, Weiss,” Blake started, “it isn’t.”
Ruby tilted her head, curiously. “I think they’re kind of cute,” she murmured, Yang nodding in agreement.
“Take this seriously, you three!” Weiss demanded. “Blake is claiming that the pups she brought with her when she joined the pack are the White Fang’s most powerful and ferocious warriors like this is a joke!”
Blake’s eyes narrowed. “I might’ve lied about my involvement with the Fang, but I’m not lying about this, Weiss,” she told the white wolf.
“You mean to tell me that Sienna has been training cubs to be killers?” Weiss demanded, her expression turning shocked.
Blake’s eyes shifted. “Not Sienna,” she replied. “She had no idea about their training.”
One of the pups decided to start wrestling with the other two and they roughhoused in the grass next to the adult wolves.
“If Sienna didn’t know, then, who was running their training?” Ruby asked, one ear listening out for the cubs.
“It doesn’t matter,” Blake answered. “I saved them and brought them here when I escaped. They’re safe.”
Weiss’ fur stood and a growl rumbled in her throat. “They won’t be safe for long if we don’t find out who it is,” she told Blake. “They could find out where they are and kill you while taking them back.”
“They won’t!” Blake snapped.
Weiss took a step back, surprised. Blake broke her usually reserved nature and when she did, it always surprised Weiss. She knew Blake wouldn’t hurt her. That was against everything Blake stood for now that Weiss had come to know her better.
Blake seemed to realize how much this was getting to her and calmed herself. “They won’t,” she murmured. “I’ll make sure of it.”
Blake strode off, ears back and tail drooping.
“Blake! Wait!” Yang called, chasing after her.
Weiss didn’t make her usual sarcastic comment about how the golden wolf was practically glued to Blake’s side. Instead, she looked back at the cubs, who had stopped playing and were now staring at Blake’s retreating back.
“Did something happen?” The smaller of the two dogs asked, black fur mussed from wrestling with his brother and sister.
Ruby shook her head as she approached them. “No,” she told them. “Everything is fine.”
“Blake sounded upset,” the she-cub replied, cream ears falling back.
“She’ll be fine,” Weiss decided to butt in. “Just a little disagreement is all.”
The small trio didn’t seem to be convinced by Weiss’ statement. She could understand. She had felt that way when seeing her parents argue and her mother trying to convince her that everything was fine when Weiss knew that wasn’t true.
“I don’t think I got your names when you first came,” she started.
“Me, neither,” Ruby added. “Maybe you can tell us.”
The russet furred cub stood up straight and puffed out his chest, proudly. “My name’s Hawke,” he introduced. “I’m the leader of the group and the best fighter.”
His sister cuffed Hawke around his ears. “You are not,” she yipped. “You’re too heavy and clumsy when you fight.”
Hawke growled and tackled her. “I am not.”
“Alright, you two,” Weiss called as she broke them apart, trying her best not to smile. “You’re getting distracted.”
Hawke and his sister stopped fighting to look up at Weiss. Hawke gave a “hmph”. “I am not a clumsy fighter,” he grumbled.
“I’m sure you aren’t,” Ruby assured him. “You’ll probably be the best fighter here.”
Hawke’s eyes lit up in happiness and his tail wagged.
Weiss turned to his sister. “Your name?” She asked.
The cub jumped up, her tail wagging in excitement. “I’m Juno,” she said. “I’m the tracker. Everyone always said I had a good nose.”
“That nose also gets her into trouble,” Hawke teased, poking Juno in the side. “She almost got us hurt after poking her head in a fox den.”
Juno bristled and snapped at Hawke. “That was one time.”
The third cub decided to perk up and get between his siblings, eyes wide with excitement as he looked up at Ruby and Weiss. “I’m Dagger!” He yapped.
“And what can you do, Dagger?” Ruby asked.
Dagger’s head tilted as his brows furrowed in thought. He, then, jumped up. “Blake says I’m a quick learner,” he replied. “So, I guess I’m the most knowledgable of the group. Or maybe storyteller. Blake says I’m good at that, too.”
Weiss felt a small sense of affection grow on her while looking at him. “We’ll need more storytellers for the future generations,” she told him.
“‘Generations’?” Hawke asked.
“Future cubs, featherbrain,” Juno told her brother.
“Oh.” Hawke seemed to think for a bit before shrugging and running off. “Come on, you two,” he called back to Juno and Dagger. “Let’s go see if Pyrrha has any more stories to tell us!”
Dagger and Juno chased after him, Juno and Hawke going back to arguing.
“They sure aren’t cold-blooded killers,” Ruby murmured as she sat down next to Weiss.
Weiss nodded. “Who would want to train them to do so anyway?”
Ruby shrugged. “I wouldn’t know,” she said, turning and starting to leave. “Blake will tell us one day.”
Weiss hummed before following Ruby. “You lied, didn’t you?” She asked. “When you said that you didn’t know their names,” she added after Ruby gave her a confused look. “With Yang being your sister and all, I’m sure she told you their names.”
Ruby nodded. “Yang doesn’t stop talking about how good Blake takes care of them. Or anything else Blake-related,” she responded. “I like them, too and really wanted to hear their introductions again.”
Weiss hummed. “I think I like them, too.”
