hey I need y'all to tell me some more podcasts about really weird/fucked up towns.
here's what I've listened to already that I can remember:
I Am In Eskew
Welcome To Night Vale
Mayfair Watchers Society
Death By Dying
Where The Stars Fell
Neighbourly
my aesthetic is fictional towns that are magnets for the weird and dangerous
It’s... weird. The more I think about this place, the less I understand.
I’m sure the town used to have a name - most towns do, right? But for the life of me, I can’t remember it, and I don’t think anyone else does either.
The signs are all scratched off. They clearly used to say something - “Welcome to ------!” - but now there’s just scratched paint where the name should be.
The infodesk hasn’t been manned in years, and there’re no materials there that I can find which would tell me anything about the place. None of the businesses have the town name anywhere. Whenever I use a map app, the internet seems to cut out - I can’t work out where the fuck I am. And whenever I ask the other people in town, they just laugh. Their laughs sound kinda like I’m being stupid, how could I not know the name of the town I've lived in for 20 years? But then they stop laughing, and their eyes go blank for a moment, and it’s like they forgot I even asked.
I’ve tried to leave. But the roads all go into the woods, and I’m yet to find one that spits me out anywhere other than another part of town. I see people come and go, sure. But when I ask them where they’ve been, I can’t get a straight answer.
I don't remember the last time I successfully left town. I think it’s been years.
A new project
Hey y'all! I've decided to start a new project on Tumblr. The blog @wileyborg is being run by me, it's a story blog. The first post is here. The blog will follow the story of Riley Boggs, a 20 year old whose town has very suddenly gone weird. However, it will act like a regular blog at the same time - I won't be referring to the fact that it's run by a fictional character on that blog, at all, and they will post and reblog things like a regular Tumblr user might (although I'll try to keep reblogs relevant to the story/character lol). The posts made on there will work best if people interact with them, it's an interactive story shaped by the followers! So I need people to follow that blog and start interacting with Riley, and sharing this post (or others from wileyborg) around so that the follower pool might grow.
I'm not sure yet where the story is going to end up, or how long it will go on for, but I'm hoping it'll be a really fun experience!!
They named this town after me
Did I ever tell you guys about how my hometown believes in a half bird half lizard tentacle monster that snatches people up and carries them away called the snallygaster? And one-time a restaurant made it their mascot and people got mad because they weren't respecting it?
Maryland is a fun place.
