─── 焦凍 HE SMELLS LIKE the first breath of air on a winter's day, all burning lungs and stinging cheeks, he smells like the warm crackle of smoke in a dying fire, the low-sweet-sway of a midsummer moon. sometimes, after a particularly hard training session, he smells like burnt rubber, or plastic, but only for a while -- just before he showers, the sticky scent of sweat still clinging to his skin as you lean in for a quick hug or a kiss.

sometimes, when he gets quiet, when he gets cold (like black-ice, like midnights when the moon hides behind her cloaks and cloaks of silver-bellied clouds), he smells like hoarfrost, the kind the creeps up leaves and vines and windowpanes, the chilled, damp earth smell of a dying garden.

still other times, he smells like coffee, or like tea, or like whatever food he's trying to make that day. once, he tried to make the perfectly seared steak and he smelled like butter and thyme for a solid week. once, you said you wanted garlic bread, so he spent the afternoon studiously mincing garlic, till that's the only thing you could smell on his fingers for days and days (nothing would get it out).

and then, there are the times when you burrow deep into the crook of his neck, your limbs tossed haphazardly over each other in bed, him with an arm looped around your shoulders, reading or scrolling through his phone (work emails, press-requests, the occasional instagram post), you'd catch a whiff of something softer, something warmer and sweeter.

"you smell different," you say, leaning back slightly to glance up at him.

shouto makes a soft, noncommittal noise at the back of his throat.

"mm -- what do i smell like now?"

you blink slowly up at him, trying to puzzle it out until it hits. he smells like your hand lotion, the kind that you've been using for years, even before the two of you met. you hide a smile against his skin and shake your head.

"no, nothing bad -- it's just..." you taper off, warmth cresting up your chest into your cheeks as he shifts slightly, setting down his phone to look down at you proper, his heterochrome eyes flickering over your face as you finally peer up again. he waits, ever patient, his expression open, inquisitive.

you smile, a bit bashful as you lean up to press a kiss to his cheek.

"it's just... sometimes, you kinda smell like me now."

What's your favorite way to compile information on Hellenistic Polytheism and the Theoi? I have a hard time keeping written records/notes, but I also have a hard time with digital records/notes. Do you use both digital and physical? Or one of the two?
