The lyrics of Creep by Radiohead directly paralleling the Hollow characters
Other than the obvious "I'm a wierdo" with 'Weirdy' and "What the heck am I doing here, I don't belong here" fitting most of season 2. In part of the scene where they first tried to get his attention, each time it showed a character, the lyrics kind of went with them.
"I don't care if it hurts,"
(Vanessa doesn't actually show like the others but I'm pretending she does)
Vanessa always was careless about consequences, whether to herself or others. Cheating the Hollow, ignoring warnings about the glitch, following the other team on her own. She gains more awareness over time and tries to take responsibility. Her power, flight, was meant to allow her to get out of most situations scott free, so she doesn't 'care if it hurts' in the first place.
"I want to have control."
Reeve's main conflict was about taking charge. He doesn't take well to being told what to do, and gets carried away in anger sometimes. Fighting Vanessa over directions and Kai about powers, arguing with Adam and giving up once it felt like nothing they do matters. His telekinetic powers reflect how he likes to 'have control'.
"I want a perfect body,"
Adam is very insecure, which he usually hides, mostly over his own strength. Opting for more physical solutions, being bullied in grade school and indulging a lot in games and the Hollow versions of their lives. Super strength and agility make him physically fortified and difficult to hurt, ergo the 'perfect body'.
"I want a perfect soul."
Mira is the most morally guided character. Her style in 'fighting' is more vocal than violent, she's vegetarian and always plays the middle man. She also beats herself up over Skeet's death and tries any excuse to keep the others from going suicidal. The ability to understand animals and befriend them is how she contributes without hurting, trying to have a 'perfect soul'.
"I want you to notice, when I'm not around,"
Kai is probably the most romantically-oriented here. He also tends to seek attention from others, and not just fake validation because of his parents' absence. Disliking being 'Reeve's replacement', caring about staying on the team, gravitating towards Vanessa, doing cool tricks and joking a lot. His fire powers are flashy because he wants to be 'noticed', even in absence.
And get this: In this part of the scene, Reeve is lifted instead of lifting things, Adam gets tripped, Mira is caught sneaking, and Kai is ignored among a bunch of other candles.
