2 skate egg cases (colloquially, and delightfully: mermaids' purses) with my hand and the remains of my nail polish for scale. Usually they wash up perforated, with the tiny skate inside having torn free.. Later in the trip we found a whole one, but just full of a spoiled yolky slime, no baby. #northcoasttrail #hiking #pacificocean #biodiversity #skateeggcase #chondrichthyes #weirdsealife
