🎲 for Bug and Bobby?
Yes, yes yes!!!
24. A sleepy kiss
Buck doesn't always drop the evening after a shift. Drop is always planned for the next day, the full day off, and so usually they come home, sleep most of the day, and then exist together, both adults, in the evening.
Except not today. Bobby thinks he should have expected it after the rough shift. But he still finds himself surprised when he hears the soft, "Daddy?"
That's a searching "Daddy;" Bobby has almost learned the distinction between all the different ways Buck says Daddy. This one is soft with the lilt of a question there at the end. Where are you?
"In the kitchen, Bug," he replies.
The footsteps that follow are shuffling before Buck rounds the corner into the kitchen. He's got his blanket—a thin, unbearably soft one that Bobby refers to as a traveler—wrapped around him. He's still got lines on his face from his pillow.
Buck doesn't stop. He shuffles right into Bobby. It's a slow-moving collision, not a lot of force. Bobby wraps his arms tightly around his boy.
"Did you sleep well?" Bobby asks.
Buck hums in response, his arms slipping out from his blanket to circle Bobby's middle. Bobby knows now that this is a boy not quite ready to be awake.
If Bobby were a little younger, maybe a little buffer, he would have lifted Buck just like that and carried him to the couch. He is mostly down to piggyback rides these days, but he can gently guide Buck back out of the kitchen and into the living room.
He pulls away only long enough to make himself comfortable on the couch before he loops an arm around Buck's middle and tugs him down into his lap.
Buck's eyes close, and he nuzzles his cheek against Bobby's shoulder. He is so cute and sleepy. Bobby brushes his fingers back through his sleep messy curls before he presses one kiss to his forehead.
"Just needed some daddy cuddles, huh, Bug?" he murmurs.
One blue eyes blinks open at him; Buck leans close to press one and maybe half of another sleepy kiss to Bobby's cheek before he tucks his face away, and that is answer enough.
Bobby doesn't have any plans for the rest of his day aside from making dinner, and surely a little takeout never hurt anybody.
