Nothing gave a villain legitimacy like being undisputed monarch of his own country. But she was disappointed in Victor von Doom, and for a very simple reason; Latveria was one of the best-run countries in the world.
Its people were happy and well-looked after, its laws were pretty fair, its economy did well enough, and ethnic minorities shunned and persecuted elsewhere were welcomed with open arms.
It was proof that von Doom could do so much more. He could have been such a good man, a political force to be reckoned with, a trade partner and ally on the international security stage.
Instead he built his doombots and terrorized the rest of the world, and the citizens of Latveria paid the sometimes heavy price for his villainy.
Invasions, sanctions, bombing strategic warehouses and manufacturing centers.
Those happy and well-loved people died by the score because their leader couldn't find it in his heart to be as a good a man outside his country as he was inside its borders.
It was a pity.
