Sorry for clogging up your ask again, but I read SSF this morning and I'm wondering if Macey knows about her panic attacks? It's just that I think if she knew she may have been a bit more understanding about the "dramatics" as she put it
Oh my goodness, yes, yes, yes. Don’t apologize. This warms my heart seeing this because I wanted this line to stir up some sort emotion in readers–maybe even not a great one–and it DID. Macey knows exactly as much as Zach does, which isn’t much other than they’re scary, they’re big, and they’re the kind of things that Catherine might have done.
Panic attacks are scary. Really, really scary. In some cases, you can lose complete control of yourself, but so often, it gets marked down as being “dramatic” as it was in the chapter. Macey’s always been the sort of person to react to things with an eye roll and a snide remark, so I imagine that was what she was doing–it wasn’t purposeful, but she did mark it down to “dramatics” because she sees Maggie starting to crumble and it scares her and the only way she knows how to get her to stop is to make it seem like not as much is happening.
But, as you may or may not know, panic attacks do not care what you call them, so it kept coming for a while longer until Maggie was able to regain temporary control again.
But now there’s a code red, so who knows whats coming? Thank you so, so much for reading and thank you for asking questions. They completely make my day.
