A wild preview appeared!

A little sneak peak at some of the illustrations that will be appearing in the upcoming combat section. Up top, we have some visualizations for the combat grid system (”grid viz,” as I’ve taken to calling them and will continue to do from here on out), and drafts of the remaining four classes’ chibified poster-children for their own grid viz sections. If you’re interested at all in the process here, check below the cut for my ramblings.

So, here’s the vision: each class has a “posterchild” character that’ll be used to illustrate (literally) what each class’ vibe and abilities are. Up top on the basic grid viz is Zaay, who’s immense shonen protagonist energy makes him ideal for the basic grid viz covering stuff like movement rules. Each of the other first five classes will be starring in other sections to show off various combat ideas.

You’ll notice that these are the only full color illustrations so far, and that’s intentional! Most of Wellspring is black and white with limited color to evoke that good old manga feel, but after some discussion and experimenting, we ultimately decided that it would be best to make these color so they’re a bit more clear and easily “readable”.

I will be making another little introduction post for all the new followers and talk about Wellspring a bit more but uhhh in the meantime I guess. look at this funny little panda. isn’t she cute.

It’ll be a little bit until the cover is actually finished and finalized, since art priorities are elsewhere, but the first drafts and thumbnails officially exist.
