It's National Story Telling Week! And how appropriate that this should coincide with the 3rd of February - the birth date of Wenchang Dijun a Chinese deity of literature and culture.
On this day people would visit his temples and bring offerings. He was particularly popular amongst scholars, and he was worshipped by rich and poor alike. Writers suffering from Writer's Block, or student facing a tough exam might pray for his assistance not just for his wisdom but also for the fact that he was known as a compassionate god.
