We planned on creating art...
...outside the house today, but since it has been raining slightly more or less all day it was too wet to draw with chalk. So we had to come up with a "better" idea.
So we met up with Wenddy and Mathias first thing in the morning and took the kids for a nice walk before we went down town to buy a few things for the fridge. I also needed some nappies. They girls have been producing big time the last few days...so we were about to run out. But as soon as we were done, we headed home. It was more or less time for their nap anyway.
Since "Monkey Boy" was missing, it took some time for Lilly to fall asleep. But she drifted of eventually... Leah drank one bottle of milk and then asked for more...it is the first time in history that she has asked for a second bottle. After one and a half bottle of milk, she drifted off...I even fell asleep on the sofa (something that doesn't happen too often).
They both slept until it turned 15:00, and as soon as they woke up we headed over to Wenddy's house. I made vegetable-curry last night so that we would have pre-made dinner today. Brought it over to their house, and it was more then enough...even leftovers. Leah absolutely loved it...Lilly wasn't too impressed, but she still ate quite well for once.
The kids have been playing both inside and out all afternoon. We even visited the neighbor's garden and fed his rabbits. That was something all three of them enjoyed.
Jipppiiii...
We don't have to attend play-group "alone". Wenddy and Mathias is joining us...so that is great!
We are headed over to Wenddy and Mathias' for breakfast, so that we can make the kids ready together! It is alway nice to have someone to tag-along with.
It's not that I am afraid to go on my own, but it's always nicer to have do things WITH someone. As a single mum dealing with EVERYTHING in my children's life on my own, I really miss having someone to share "every day life" with. I am not saying that Wenddy fill that void, but it gets easier having someone like her!
Play-group...
We have not attended play-group since the beginning of the summer, and the girls were so happy to be back. Loads of new children to play with, and heaps of toys. They didn't even want to leave...even though they were "dog tired".
Did a little bit of shopping on our way home, and when the girls woke up from their afternoon nap, we went over to our next door neighbor's. I had a huge pot of dinner for the kids that I brought along. The girls ate really well for a change, and that is making the mummy-heart really happy.
We finished off the meal with ice-cream, raspberries, blueberries and grapes.
It is really fun to see how much fun and how they interact with other children now. They have always enjoyed the company of other kids, but they are not just playing next to each other anymore. They have started to interact and play games together.
Mathias from next door is 3 weeks younger then the girls. He has always been a big lad. He is a bundle of fun, and the girls have known him since they were around 7 months. So they see him as one of their best friends, and they are so comfortable around his mum, Wenddy. So they are really enjoying their time with them.
They were not too hungry when we got back home. I made them yet another tortilla with cheese, salsa and sausages for their evening snack. They had the cheese and sausages, but left the rest. So we finished the meal with a yoghurt packed with hulled oats. So hopefully that will last them through the night.
Leah woke up last night around 12:30pm, and stated that she was hungry. Since that is something I have never heard from her before, I let her come into the living-room to have a bowl of today's dinner. I though she was just playing tricks on me, but she actually had quite a lot. But I hope that it doesn't establish as a habit. I still can't really understand why she was hungry as she had pasta with read- and green- pesto for her evening snack. She also had two eggs and quite a bit of fruit. But since she ate well, I do think that she was not "just" playing tricks with me.
Do any of you have experience with children waking up during the night stating that they are hungry? If so; how do you deal with it?
My girls were born pre-mature and were both quite small (3,7 lb & 3.9 lb), we had a daily (the first few weeks)/weekly (for quite a few months) weight gain that we needed to reach. I think that this constant focus on how much they ate, messed me up a bit. I feel that I at times are forcing food down their throat. I somehow feel that IF they eat well during the day, that alone is a reason to say that we have had a great day. Do I make sense?
