You talked in the past about how you nail down personalities for background cats, and reading Po3 as well as the new moonkitti vid has me thinking about her again so notes on Poppyfrost if you please? Or just her relationship with jayfeather if that's too much.

poppyfrost! okay, first up, most of what i have to say about her can be summed up in my three fics about her, so links:

man it's been ages since i've talked about Who Characters Are To Me.

i've seen moonkitti's poppyfrost video but i definitely have a slightly different take on her. i see her as...

honeyfern and cinderheart both stand Out. the reasons why aren't necessarily the best, but they are, well, Figures. and poppyfrost is sort of drifting. she almost dies, she's close with jaypaw, jaypaw then helps cinderpaw. she becomes a warrior, honeyfern dies defending briarkit, she ends up being mates with berrynose, they have one litter and then just kind of are.

so.

she has a lot more character than she does cats like mossyfoot and troutstream, where i have to basically import a full personality. i don't think i really have to say that she's reasonably intelligent, she's got a bit of sass, etc., because po3 sets that up pretty well.

my main interest in her is her relationship with death. i like...i really, really like that jaypaw saves her life. wcte is one of my favourites because like. well. it's what i wanted to write about.

also because i have a bit of an obsession with honey as a metaphor and because dammit it's nice to flex my poetic muscles now and then. it is really, really satisfying to get to -- do something i'm good at.

anyway. this is about poppyfrost.

i think she's self aware and i think she's...aware she's kind of a background character. i think she loves honeyfern a lot.

in general, my take on poppyfrost is a...not the best at anything, but pretty upbeat about it. has a good amount of insecurity, but tries not to let it show.

jayfeather is one of her closest friends, and really, one of her only friends.

sorry i don't have a ton to say, i've just happened to write about poppyfrost xd.

this passage isn't really about poppyfrost, but i like it a lot. so. from cpavb:

Seeing what Poppyfrost was looking at was not the same as seeing what she saw, of course. He didn't know more than what she was focusing on, and learning to filter out all of the light and motion to see that much from anyone was hard enough.

But Poppyfrost wasn't anyone. She might not have been Hollyleaf or Lionblaze, but she was more than anyone, because Jaywing could see the way her gaze shifted at the flick of her tail, how her eyes were half-lidded in the sun.

"You're staring," he said.

"You don't know that," she said, but she rested her head on his paws. "And so what if I am?"

a lot of them? most of my non-canon ships are pretty well disliked and a few of my canon ships, too.

yknow just looking through my list i think itd be easier to name my ships that ive never seen hate for! just kidding the answer to that is none of them

i think my most hated currently are prooobably rapunzel/cassandra, entrapta/hordak, luka/marinette, callum/claudia, aaaand gray/carmen? obviously those are for shows that are still airing and have active fandoms so that makes sense

im surprised i didnt list any ducktales ships but ive blocked everyone who dislikes scrooge/goldie so since i never see it it no longer exists

I read your squirrelstar fic(up to the current chapter) and it's such a cool concept and execution. Everything is so tense and I was on the edge of my seat with ever chapter. Love getting to see characters in new roles because of the split! Okay onto my actual question: Do you know what wound was the lethal one in squilf's first death? My money's on the skull crack. And did anything else scar? (you can answer this privately if you'd like to keep spoilers off your blog.)

we're in the thick of the plot, and there's a lot going on. every chapter from ch8 until the end is identified in my notes by the biggest plot event (in this case, "breezepelt"), but then there's like several paragraphs of what's going on. i can't wait to share (parts of) my planning doc for this fic.

the skull crack would have killed her, but bramblestar killed her before it had the chance. starclan heals both tho, which is why it takes so long and bramblestar has time to declare her fully dead.

i'm not sure if she has any specific new scars from this battle. she didn't take a ton of damage after she died, so she came out of matters fairly well, if exhausted. she might have gained a new nick in her ear or something, but nothing big and dramatic.
