“Ah…” Well that wasn’t good. Poor Nate…he’d probably be more than a little upset finding someone was watching him rather than the typical opposite. She hadn’t meant to really, but he did look so sweet reading with his kitten, she didn’t have the heart to interrupt him. He was such a great kid…and sometimes he looked so very young and fragile. In a lot of ways, he really was.
“I’m afraid you did catch me, Nate, I was watching you. I’m sorry if it was unpleasant, but I didn’t want to interrupt your book.” She could probably skip the bit about thinking about how adorable and sweet he looked.
“I had actually meant to come talk to you, though. I think I may have figured out a way to teach you to cook a little more…directly than just having you watch me. After all, I imagine you’d like to be able to make supper for your dad without me having to make it first. I’ve bought two sets of ingredients this time, and a little extra of each as well so you can taste things as we go. That way you can practice yourself at the same time, and sort of see how flavors go together.” She hoped, anyway. It was entirely possible she was off base and this wouldn’t work or make sense to him…she didn’t know what kind of thought process Nate had, really, she could only make guesses. It was his own business, after all, she had no right to the knowledge, which was why she didn’t ask Bandit either. But she…did want to help. If she could.
“…This way you won’t have to come near me. The kitchen is pretty big, so you can have your space.”
